Looks damn good to me.

It's a great remake, don't get me wrong. But I think I'm with ReNo and OL on this one. It just doesn't "feel" like prodigy, and I don't really like the outdoor sections as well.
-
As most of you know the new prodigy was just released over steam. I have not yet played it because I just got home from work. To those that have played it, what do you think of it.
Based on the pictures I have seen so far it doesn't seem like the remakes that have been done for the other maps. It wasn't at all what I expected from a Prodigy remake.

Thanks a lot for the insight people. So my best bet will probably be to work up my skills in the next few years, as Strat had suggested, and see what happens. Then maybe go to college for something that I can fall back on if I don't make it in the game industry?

Well it's my junior year in high school and it's time to start looking at colleges. I'm aware of curmans thread that was somewhat like this but I wanted to ask a few more questions. I was curious...how did you all get into your profession? What college did you go to? What courses did you take? How did you finally get your job?
I know of a few schools that have game design majors but I'm not up for moving out of state quite yet. Is it necessary to get an Associates or Bachalors degree to get into the game design industry? Would online college programs suffice as well?
I need a few suggestions so I can start thinking about what I can do, or if I have what it takes to get into this industry.

haha, I saw this about an hour ago, looks a bit weird to me. It's the same director as Big Fish, the similarities pop right out.
Actually there are oompa's in it, there not what you're expecting at all though

Just added it to the favorites, hopefully we'll start seeing people join.

It's been what now? Over a year of just WAITING.....and my god it's finally here. Nov. 16th is still sometime away, but at least we know when it's coming!
-
It was just confirmed by Daniel Morris, Editor-In-Chief of PC Gamer. I have to get that issue.....no matter wat.

That teaser image looks amazing, props to Chase. The sound effects are great to as well as the music. It's easier just to say EVERYTHING is stunning. This mod is going to be B-E-A-utifal!

haha I know the nose is messed up a bit. I started on the nose and I didn't really know what I was doing so the nostril is pretty much on the side of the nose, that's on the to do list as well.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Fullauto, thanks for the idea with the action figure...I'll be trying that out a little later. Once I finish the entire head I'll most likely clean up all the extra polygons I have. Thanks again, I'll give an update on the progress sometime soon.

For a while now I've been *trying* to model with 3D Studio (about 2-3 years). I recently opened it up again and started playing around, went to the basic tutorials as I usually would and tried to put something together. I would usually get impatient because I couldn't make anything thing even look like....anything. I spent about 5-7 hours working time on this (just because I had next to no clue as to what I was doing). I know it's a bit messy right now and I still have to finish off the neck, head/hair, and some other fine tuning. I would appreciate all of your criticism.

I used front and side reference photos of my face and started with the nose. I worked around the rest of my face in the major areas poly by poly, which is very time consuming. I still have to do the ears, so add about another 3 hours to the productive time
. Again, be hard on me...I need it. -
If you made a page, you could just split it into sections (one for each artist or something). Then just have the original HL texture and the new one right next to it. Just an idea.
