Haha, like that Uwe Boll petition. Good stuff, can't believe people always think it will make a change or something.

Well, Blizzard is a pretty good developer and much like Valve, they listen to their community.

What they might do is keep it in mind to make some of the areas in the game even more gloomy than the one we already saw with the Barbarian.

But to completely change the style and colors? No way, never.

The thing is, people haven't even seen the entire game yet. Sure, the entire style displayed so far is rather special but the dungeons in the gameplay video looked pretty damn mysterious and foreboding to me. Which is exactly what Diablo is about, right? The sudden contrast change when going outside was a bliss. People everywhere are moaning that games these days are all gray and colorless. Blizzard does exactly the opposite and people are still not satisfied. Its impossible to satisfy everyone, which is also exactly why that petition won't come through.

I'm pretty sure this game will feature beautiful outdoors where you can feast your eyes for a while and then change to a nice dark and gloomy setting again to get into the real Diablo business. Who is to say all the outdoor environments will feature beautiful forests anyway, I'm sure there will be a lot of variation. A whole lot more variation than Diablo 2 anyway (which is possible through this art style).

  • What good X360 games should I play?

Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Ninety-Nine Nights, Ninja Gaiden II... If your into those Japanese kind of games.

Eternal Sonata is probably my favorite game on the 360.

Hahaha, not sure who from Mapcore posted that, pretty funny though.

I've been following this story since I read about it at work early this morning. Its just sad really, because I understand these kind of values were different back in the day but they have to get with the program. It seems to me only one person in their team was capable of doing some 'old fashioned' 3D design and animation which explains the low quality models and animations used in the game. The other development time was seemingly used for importing content from other games into their (stolen?) engine. Sure, its quite a feat obtaining all that content but that doesn't make it good.

And yeah, seeing that game getting published while other independent developers struggle so hard makes me feel sick.

  • That is really strange!

I see you added the Gears of War stuff on your portfolio Dux, nice one.

  • 360 not outputting to HDTVs

If you've tried different TV's and cables, then yeah it seems like the HDTV chip burned out or something.

At least its a more original reason for getting a new 360 as opposed to the red ring of death.

Or... could the problem be in the HDTV settings of your Xbox 360? Have a look at this or possibly easier, going with the official Microsoft's solution.

Yup, living in Belgium as well and I'm loving it. Loads of colleagues at work, and myself, have gotten cheap iPhones out of the U.S.

Its like doing beer runs but with cheap technological gadgets.

Yeah, if it has Bale in it surely it must have some good bits in it.

I watched Rescue Dawn last night with Christian Bale in it, love that actor.

Ever since I saw that crazy guy running around a hotel in his birthday suit and a chainsaw in American Psycho 1 he got my vote. ^^

Terminator 3 was alright... first two were better of course.

I've been playing it so much and I love it.

Some of the "flaws" help the game play better I think.

Yes it would be more logical to have all the guards attacking you at once. But I already get stabbed in the back frequently during fights. It also gives you more of a chance to focus on your counter attacks and whatnot. Which are badass.

Combat is still pretty tricky sometimes against certain guards, and I tend to keep it fresh by switching from weapons a lot. I just received my throwing blades as well, good fun.

I don't mind the repetitive missions, I like getting the feeling of accomplishment when you cleared a part of the city of all objectives before going after your target. Builds up the fun for me.

The free running is awesome, like said by Schmung, only using two buttons gives you more time to think where your going rather than what your trying to do. It still amazes me sometimes, even after hours of gameplay, how Altaïr places his hands and feet sometimes while climbing onto things. The technology behind it is marvelous. I've been showing Assassins Creed HD clips off at work, they're not gamers on the most part, but they love the climbing. ^^

Getting the flags is +- for me. I've already gotten up to 94 flags in the Kingdom area, so far its been easy. But I have no freaking clue where to look for the last few. I've took glimpses at game guide maps for locations on the last flags I need... but out of the hundred located on those, I still don't know which ones I should be going for. Aaargh!

Anyhoo, so much for my impressions.

  • The elephant in the room - Kane & Lynch reviews :D

Sure, he's entitled to his opinion.

But people like him (who work for large companies like that) should remember not to bite the hand that feeds.

Reviewing can be a dangerous job. This is why Penny Arcade requests copies of the game very early on (even during development) so that they'll get an idea if the game is going to suck or not. That way they can advertise and review safely.

Can't blame video game designers for trying to put a funny twist on things.

Video games are all about fun after all. ^^ And whether what they say is true or not, is pretty irrelevant. Since as a company, you always have to make yourself look good no matter what I guess.

Nexus, you've never seen plants crawling up or hanging from walls before? Nature can often take its course on the places you'd least expect it.

As for the colours many people are commenting on. Have you people actually played Gears of War before? This brown / green colour set suits GoW perfectly. Its almost a requirement to the dark, dirty & gritty feel of the game.

I'm not saying that just because it was used in the main game, Hourences should do it too. But still, it simply suits the GoW feel.

Haha, I saw that movie a few nights ago. It influenced my post quite a bit indeed. ^^ That performance, along with Sin City's just gives him a real Max Payne style to me.
