All done... definitely neat overall, big points for not doing the ordinary. Couple of areas that needed smoothing out (gameplay wise) and felt like a lot of areas that could be cheesed through. Great work though and understanding of the tools.

If anything is certain, most of the shots and assets definitely seem to have a "unique" feel about it. Don't quite know what it is though.

I beat Beyond Good & Evil (PS2) and De Blob (Wii) on the weekend, currently playing;
MadWorld (Wii)
Resident Evil 5 (360)
Army of Two (360)
Zeno Clash (PC)
Penumbra (PC)
Left 4 Dead (PC)
Yeah.. that's too many

Ehm, havent you thought about getting through the bus actually? The crates stacked up there are obvious clues

Yeah, I noticed that right off the bat. All the time I spent trying to get through the window was fucking with the crouch + jump + low crouch combination to finally get through. I had to remap my controls and spend several more minutes before I found the right combo to get through.
-
I'm at the part with the anomalies and apparently I have to jump through this bus? I've been trying to fifteen fucking minutes with every combination of jump, crouch, low crouch I can imagine. Can anyone offer any hints?
Edit: Beh, somehow I got through after a few more minutes of anger. That game is a done deal *wipes hands clean and deletes content*. As someone who loved STALKER, this was pretty much a nightmare to play through, I had to download a trainer halfway through and use godmode.
-
I more or less had to force myself to beat the game today, otherwise I'd never want to play it again. I honestly don't know what those 9/10 scores were about. I'd read several interviews where they were saying they learned their lessons from Crysis, but I'd say the original was superior in every way.
3/5 from me, I may come back with details later.

Ok... so does setting the difficulty to the one where the enemies speak Korean also make them the most difficult? I just want them to speak Korean but keep the same difficulty, but I feel like I am really getting owned.

Agreed. I'm finding the Metal Gear Solid series to be full of this stuff. While many games have tons of backstory and things you can find and check out in the menus, I think they are often forgotten or buried under some clunky interface. The example used in the video of using some text/information during a loading screen is a good one. One that Call of Duty 4 pulled off very well, by conveying information in a way that is interesting and covers up the process of loading.
Also, GG @ using a Hell's Highway screenshot in there that I worked on

Interesting results. Like Furyo, I definitely get the feeling that these results stem from lots of mod level designer input. Either way, it was neat to check it out. I can only say thank god that "Not knowing what to do" won the single-player problems.

-
I heard someone say the other day that they forgot to include the CD keys or something in the retail boxes. Easy mistake, whoops.
-
Too bad about the stupid manufacturing problem. You'd think Steam would be unaffected by this... Either way I just pre-ordered the game on Steam. I just downloaded the Oblivion Lost mod tonight for the original STALKER, supposedly one of the best (if not the best) for the game. Maybe I will play through that again before checking out Clear Sky.

So far I have a mixed bag of impressed and unimpressed opinions. It seems really fast when you're not doing much, but I noticed when compiling maps and stuff at work while watching videos, it just can't keep up and will freeze. Firefox seems to go on through just fine. It's also missing the basic ability to scroll when I click & hold the mouse wheel and drag up or down. It does, however, score a 78 on the Acid3 test, where Firefox only scores a 69. As for now, I'll stick with my trusty Firefox.

You may have to excuse the folks from the mapcorians who judge a book by it's cover. You need to make instructions on how to run this with links to the app, how to install your custom levels, how good you should be at the game, etc. Chances are, very few to none have heard of this game. I ran through the tutorial and tried to get through your mission;
- Having only played the tutorial, I'm not familiar enough to understand what the powerups are when I get them by their visuals. I understood the one was the higher jump, and the key was obviously a key, but other than that, not much else.
- There were some poorly placed level transitions / jumps that were pretty annoying. It's one thing to show the player the door before you give them the key, but it's another to show them something completely random for no reason. When I got the first key I thought the door it was for was above it at the unreachable space, only to later find it was off to the left of where I dropped down. Doing something like placing the locked door right next to where the player drops down the long chute would be a nice natural progression.
- I was getting owned and clearly not good enough when trying to jump the chasm with the strategically placed dropping spider next to it so I quit there.

Absolute bullshit as in given great gameplay, one can forgive the lack of cutting edge visuals? Heh...
i could forgive the game if it indeed had good or even great gameplay. but tell me, do you think that "fetch x items from y mobs to person z" quests on repeat equal good gameplay? please. i could rephrase the above crysis statement to a portal statement, or any other game with decent gameplay. don't mistake a succesful product for a good game.
The endgame content is some of the most well designed gameplay in any game, ever. Obviously the earlier stuff of killing x number of enemies to complete a quest is not going to impress much of anyone, but they have learned a ton and their new starting quests for the Death Knight or new areas in general seem to show that.

yeah it looks absolutely fantastic, i bet crysis could not match that.(note: this was not to offend anyone, but honestly it gets tiresome that a product like world of warcraft gets praise for absolute bullshit. maybe next time let's praise goldsource for its outstanding graphics in comparison to everything else.)

I thought this was the best quote;

The article was pretty nuts, I know a few of the guys in there too. There's definitely lots of lessons to be learned in there, most importantly, this one:

Be neat if the 32,000 disgruntled hardcore diablo fans agreed to that with what we've been shown so far.
I'm pretty sure the game is being made for the other 8 million+ people who will be buying the game. Obviously you can't please everyone, but if you sell a shitload of units while trying then that is cool too

Is this game going to be quicktime event after quicktime event also?

What id game has excessive levels of gore? Splashing a bit of red around (giant blood spurts, gibbing) is not very damning to a games rating, you typically have to incorporate levels or realism, torture or sadism before the rating folk bump you to adult.
Having any kind of dismemberment is all you need to earn an 17/18+ rating.
