Be neat if the 32,000 disgruntled hardcore diablo fans agreed to that with what we've been shown so far.

To be fair, I think what Wacko said regarding is a valid point: if the current media only represents the pre-evil part of the game, it's perfectly possible that it will become more sinister looking as the game progresses, much like games such as Fable and Black & White adjusted their environment style dramatically and went from looking totally nice to totally disconcerting without changing the general art direction.

That'd actually be quite cool if it is the case. And seeing as Wacko works at Blizzard, him telling us this is what happens does carry a certain degree of authority.

The diablo fans doesn't have anything to complain about. Atleast they get something that looks like the original games...

Shush, leave us alone with our Diablo, and we will leave you alone with your Fallout

Indeed it would. Looking forward to more Even though the media now makes me cold inside and stuff

The only reason why some fans wan't Diablo 3 more "grainy" is because diablo 2 was as pixely as any 800X600 game, and the only reason why some fans wan't less saturation is... heck, beats me, Diablo 2 is colorful as hell (get it? >_<). I say "some" fans because I'm a great fan of the series aswell, and I for one think Blizzard has done a great job with the art direction

Yeah, hope the new one makes it really desaturated. There are way too few grey games coming out nowdays.

I'm pretty sure the game is being made for the other 8 million+ people who will be buying the game. Obviously you can't please everyone, but if you sell a shitload of units while trying then that is cool too .

that's the thing though. it seems many game companies these days make radical changes to their sequels rather than "staying true to their fans". if you make a game for the 8 million other people out there, why not just start a new franchise altogether? i mean, if you're going to remove the original fanbase as well, there's no need for a sequel, right?

save perhaps the worth of the franchise...

    For fucks sake:

To be honest, why wouldn't they try and make a new style with the new technology they have to deliver it with. I mean the old games were sprites and therefore I think the only way to deliver the game, in a darker setting, was to use really gray scale/desaturated colors, otherwise it would have looked way too bright and fun loving with the colors they had to choose from. Now they have all of these new graphical features they can implement giving more of a wide spread feel while still keeping it true to diablo. If you are perhaps blind and didn't see the first scene with the barbarian, that was very true to the original game. Your in a dark dungeon fighting hordes of monsters. Blood and limbs flying everywhere. What else do you want? How much more dark can you make that?

All I'm saying is give them a fucking break. They've worked too hard on this game already for them to just say "Well our fans know what's best, because it's not like we haven't made this game in the past, let's just scrap this whole thing and start over." Give them some respect, without these guys you would still be playing your old outdated diablo 2 on old battle.net, which is laggy and not even being maintained anymore. All you've seen is a glimpse of it anyway, this game isn't going to come out for a while, I'm sure theres plenty of potential and suprises to come. Please. Also, just be glad they didn't sell out and turn the game into World of Diablo and change the entire way the game is played.

    /my two cents

(I'm am enjoying a lot of rum right now, but I thought I'd try to give a somewhat respectable rebutle )

Read some of the interviews with Jay Wilson. Specifically the one on the photoshoped images. His answers don't convince me.

We do maintain old battle.net I wrote code not to long ago that fixed several issues, we are just at a point where we are not adding new features and the hardware is running on stuff that's 10 years old.

As far as the crap about the rainbows and blah blah blah... 0.1% of the freaking game folks you guys have seen NOTHING not a damn thing but some demo level that was made to show you we are working on something with this franchise. I think its sad that people have attached themselves to this 15 minutes of gameplay. Its like come on people get a freaking clue, I think we know what we are doing we currently make the #1 MMORPG, we have what most view as the best RTS of all time, as well as one of the best RPG hack and slash games... I do not think we are going to fuck that up, but we are going to use the new technology as much as possible and we are doing things we were just unable to do with diablo/diablo 2. Sure I am a bit biased but I feel the people in charge of Diablo 3 are making the right choice and when you all finally play the game you will agree.

Imo it has a lot of impudence to complain about the reaction you got from the stuff YOU'VE shown. "You have to like it because we are Blizzard. We made WoW!"

But to be fair, I have no doubts that I will enjoy the game. I know it's nitpicking... but it's valid critism.

Well, the complaining can always be viewed as a positive thing. I mean, most people don't even think twice about a game before they right it off. With Diablo 3, you have people arguing all over the internet for months now because they love the series so damn much. Are all the arguments coherent and will informed? Probably not, but I don't think a lot of developers would mind having such a rabid (crazy?) fan base.

In return for the people employing a mature and constructed argument over the colours receive nothing in the way of a well constructed response over than "shut the fuck up you are dirt to us blizzard fans who incidentally love them all so huggy muggy much". Honestly, read the forums on daiblofans.com, my goodness some of the users on there need a bullet between the eyes.
