A team that is quite full when it comes to staff, where every staff is very motivated about the project, everyone gets along with eachother, you've got the more rare people to find on your staff (coders, animators), and the idea is not too far-fetched as to the point that you are taking somewhat of a gamble.

And from what I have read about your mod, its like you guys are moving Desert Combat to the Source Engine. It might take a little level up.. but its not going to be anything new and exciting.
You obviously didn't read very well... Iraq is only a small section of the overall areas we're going to have. (Afghanistan, Bosnia, Haiti, Chechnya). Also, the mod is EXTREMELY different than Desert Cambat when it comes to gameplay (not even a little bit different..like..completely different). The mod has a focus solely on infantry, not vehicles. The mod also has a "different team, different features" idea going in that will make our mod different than the standard FPS when it comes to the idea that both teams will have unique advantages and dissadvantages, that will balance out. In a sense, think of it like NS with the Humans and the Aliens, different but balanced, cept of course in a more realistic setting with humans using different tactics against other humans.
Quote from CrackerjackI wouldnt mind seeing a WW2 mod again.
Uh... lol. Dunno about you but I've seen and played more good WW2 mods than good Modern warfare mods.
Quote from CrackerjackNow these comments are not to offend the artist, because the work is great. But i rather see the astonishing work put into a different theme then modern warfare.
Well, thanks, I guess, but unfortunately we are quite passionate of what we are trying to accomplish
Quote from von*ferretCreate mods for the experience and fun, not to be popular. I'm sure not all of INS's team is doing it for the popularity, but that is the vibe I get when I read and hear you guys speak about it. Thats a reason why I'm put off of it.
If we're creating the mod for anything, its for the experience and fun. If all we cared about was popularity we would screw the idea of realism in the first place. If you look at the most played games and mods out there, you'll notice that most of them are not realism-based. Our motivation for this project comes almost completely from our personal drives to create something great within this genre that we have a passion in.
Quote from von*ferretWhy dont you try to make a game based on players being cubes, and the goal is to reach a certain height using team work amongst players. May not be the most popular mod but at least its a challenge for developers to make it interesting and pull more people into it. That is a challenge. Making the next realistic mod isn't interesting at all.
I don't know anyone in their right minds who would make a mod out of your idea above, hehe. I know it's just an example, but it's kind of funny because the "players being cubes" part is not your emphasis there, it's the "teamwork" part right? The players working as a team to complete a goal, that's what you're trying to emphasize with that example. And I think it's funny because our primary focus for this mod is teamwork and gameplay, not individual realism. You might want to read more about the mod.
Quote from von*ferretIts not that I'm trying to be rude. Its that I'm trying to explain I'm not interested.
You can say you're not interested without making such a big deal about it. When I'm not interested in something I just ignore it
Quote from von*ferretThey have yet to do something that makes me go "oh thats interesting, let me sit here and ponder the possibilities." Realistic weapons have been done. As have their trucks, tanks, ect. What are THEY doing that I can't get elsewhere? So yes, I'm going to snore because of that.
Hmm, let me think of a cool example about Insurgency that makes me think "what are the possibilities..." Oh, one that comes to mind right away is the idea that Guerillas will be solely for the purpose of the casual gamer, and will have a lot of cool features not seen in games before such as the ability to just hop in a random civilian car randomly in a map, or the ability to use boobytraps and such. To me, I personally haven't played any other games that do that for a team, so I'm personally thinking "what are the possibilities" for that. We also have many other things that I am quite interested in how it will play out as well.
Quote from von*ferretWhat they say so far, is planned. Its what they _want_ to do. Not nesc. what is going to get finished or be anything like the final version.
Haha that's kinda funny because if you read any interviews you'd know that our FIRST (and yes, that's first) priority for release is gameplay. Not content, nor releasing quickly, nor any of the other reasons developers commonly leave out key features. We do not plan on releasing Insurgency until our priorities for gameplay have been reached. And yes, many of us do have experience on past mods and games, and know what it takes to make sure everything goes according to plan. One of these for instance, is a really solid design doc, and a really talented and eager programming team... which we have both of.
Quote from von*ferretThis is not a personal assault to them, its the simple reality that a number of people are getting burned out on these types of games.
Sure people are clearly complaining about "these types of games," but more people happen to be still interested in this genre.
Anyhow, I'm sorry that some of you are not fond of the project we're working on. The dev team on the other hand is extremely motivated and looks forward to creating something great. Thanks for the support, to those of you who appreciate our project

Hey,
Thanks for your comments guys. Keep in mind the MARPAT character that was posted by DelaZ is extremely old and has been virtually redone. (Proportions and skin-wise).
KidDynamite, despite you not liking realistic mods, I think you might find yourself engaged into this mod, as we're going to try to make the gameplay really fun and unique. I'd just consider giving it a try despite doubt is basically what I'm saying.
FrieChamp, nice to see you here
And yes, I look forward to making this mod as great as possible, and applying the lessons I've learned from RO to make it truly fantastic.Lastly, let it be known that the latest marine render and the M14 are wip. DelaZ wasn't even supposed to post them. So please keep that in mind and wait for our update for more stuff.
Thanks
