Oh shiii I remember, my first 6 months working at Climax I lived in a bed and breakfast place, can actually be cheaper than your own place, giving you time to find a really nice place. It was something like 30 pounds a night, but you get free breakfast and don;t even have to tidy your room

you rent what ever you can for your first job, you have no choice to share/get a shit hole if that's all you can afford. Get a studio flat somewhere, 1 room with everything you need. My first apartment was utter dreadful, if u gota live in a shit area and a building thats about to fall down you will have to

Cambridge unfortunately doesn't do single bed places for less than 700 a month. Then theres the bills and council tax on that. Basically unaffordable. As for agencys ive heard bad things about all of them, but thats pretty normal no matter where you are.

that sounds a bit steep, just did a quick search and you can get a single flat for about 100 pounds a week, thats about right considering 700 a month + taxes would make Cambridge 2x as expensive as Frankfurt (2nd most expensive city in germany ...) In the middle of London I'd expect 700+

Nobody really lives in the heart of a city unless your mad, get a place a few miles out and research the bus connections

It should take no longer than 6 months to feel settled in, then it gets much easier - as you learn who does what best, meaning who to bug if you're stuck.

Best advice I can give is, don't feel ashamed to say you don't know! Rather than sit on the issue get up and ask around and find out who will know the answers, this gets much easier once you know your team.

    Grats, well deserved

The problem lies deeper than QA unfortunately, the player physics was designed for jungles ;P I'm sure we'll fix it for the next game

Maps called "A walk in the park"

That looks like a bug with the difficuly not setting correctly, or abusing the armor mode and playing the map enough times to learn the checkpoints ;P

doesn't make sense. if the system doesn't work well with quicksaves then it doesn't work well with quicksaves, it has nothing to do with console vs pc.

wot? Did you read furyos comment at all?

it's got very little to do with performance on the PC, but rather the fact that maintaining multiple code bases (one for each platform) is a monstrous task, save and load is the lowest it goes for game code and it's very risky to develop different systems for each platform. The key to developing a multi platform game is to not separate too many features until the very end, once it's basically done. That is assuming you invest equal budgets to each platform, 33% ...

The best "console to pc ports" I've seen take the finished console game and adjust it to fit the pc market (think mass effect) but for obvious reasons Crytek couldn't do that Rest assured we are supporting PC with unique features in the coming months.

I think allot of people here who have not worked on a multi platform game won't understand that it's another league all together in terms of a design and technical challenges, it's very easy to criticize when all you look at is one platform.

yeaps most people move on, standards change. Unless a game has the nostalgia value (you played it 10 years ago and loved it) I tried deus ex recently and just couldn't get past the first mission ;P

The game you're looking for is Bulletstorm.

:science: right you are, but that wasn't a full epic production right?

I'd say epics art these days is just playing it safe, not being extreme enough in any direction to upset people (and fans of their IP's) Would be interesting to see epic guys going balls out with art, that bottom screen shot could have allot of color and interesting lighting, instead it's Gray! Uncharted shows you don't have to make ruins just Gray! Green isn't enough to make the scene feel alive with color.

when it comes to layouts there are no major mistakes, it all depends on the game and engine you're making it for!

I'm assuming looking at your layout it's for something like HL2?
