get a sony mirrorless they are brilliant, don't get too hung up over the long term investment if your just getting into it, give it a try with something cheap and then make the jump up to serious gear if your really into it.

if you have some cash to burn, then yeah a decent body and a prime lens is a good choice, but I'd prob get a zoomy kit lens if I was just starting just so you have something to play around with, I shoot pretty much only primes now but that's because I set out looking for specific things.

What seir said, if you don't know the answer to this, then you really can't go wrong with any manufacturer today, canon, sony, nikon, pentax etc - they are all fantastic and as good as each other until you enter the realm of high end pro.

my advise for equipment is to buy something with interchangeable lens options, so a mirrorless system or dslr - they start from about £300 including a kit lens.

The key I learned is to not worry in the slightest, the moment you make something worth earning money from (in one way or another) you can just do it for a career - of course I'm talking as a amateur here, if it's your primary source of income then that is unacceptable.

If your earning a tiny little bit of money on the side, and it doesn't do harm for the game in any way I doubt they will come chasing you with cattle prod.

this is good, Sony already have a headset just as good as this, so it's been cloned already. If it takes off we'll have tons of options for hardware, there's no such thing as buying the rights to prevent others from doing it - the entire tech world is in an endless legal battle already that never gets resolved.

Hopefully this exposure will kick start the industry, it's only a good thing in the long run.

it's amazing what a little photoshop can do, everyone slightly bullshots their promotional work, setting up characters, effects, lights and often uber high res downscale with a touch of color correction.grading ... but to change it so much from the boxed product is just asking for trouble. That being said, in this case it's the smallest of the bigger issues that the game has ;P what a mess.
