Actually, other than the massive server/offline feck up, I heard the design issues, mostly city size where very much internal. At least from GDC talks ... don't be so fast to blame the big guy all the time, games politics are complicated in a company the size of EA/Maxis

I'm working on a map actually, a new one - when it's in the build I'll share it here, the games development is very open so I'm sure you could contribute if you wanted to

If you watch games on youtube as a substitute for having played it you are scum

haha, then I'm scum, don't have the time to play every game, nor do I have the interest if it's not the kind of game I enjoy, watching at least allows me some entertainment while I eat, and perhaps learn something in the process.

Although I agree with just about everyone's opinions here, no design is flawless and perfected. CS only got to the place it is now by endless iterations to the maps, hell, look at DOTA'2 map and the amount of iterations it's gone through. To be fair though, I don't see why it's so important to change NUKE, why not make another level, somewhat similar in terms of layout (with the changes you think would benefit) and then put a different visual coating.

CS 1.6 was the end of the changes, because a newer game was in the works, it was not "perfect" by any stretch but the focus was put onto CS:S etc. Changes would of been made to maps if the game was to continue development.

If your Valve or a big developer, you have the chance to test your changes with the top teams before any major commitment is made, there's no need for guesswork these days

It's not Knj, it just takes a bigger more substantial game longer to build. I've no doubt we will see lots of great games in the next year or two. Hopefully, this will be a message to developers, I would of thought Ryse was an eye opener for what not to do. Sometimes the formula just doesn't work, huge production costs for a tiny amount of content and asking full price for it. If you compare this to, say, Mass Effect 2, MGS, DE3, Skyrim (and endless other good games) the value just stinks regardless of quality and execution ... PS I've not played the game or even read about it, but my point here isn't about quality over quantity, it's about value for money and expectations.

I seem to be one of those weirdos who want a game to last forever, I'm not a completionist at all, in fact when a game I play and enjoy finishes I'm actually quite sad. So, I will avoid a short game like this at all costs, unless it's really, really cheap. Just no way I can justify spending full price to get such little value I don't actually care about production values at all, that extra 10% of effort visually just fly's over my head the moment that I play. IMO a sp game should be at LEAST 10 hours if not longer, with enough depth to replay it at least once. Bioshock is about the shortest SP game that I actually enjoyed, but even then It didn't have the depth (no pun intended) to really grip me and make it one of my favs.

There is a place for cinematic, character and story driven games, but they need to represent good value, like Mass Effect or even the Walking Dead games.

last one I played was Looping Louie, losers had to drink hot chilli shots lol, other than that I've enjoyed Risk and Monopoly. Played a few at friends houses but can't possibly remember the names. They are fun, but tbh that's mostly due to the company than the actual game.

LOL just found this, that's why ...

    lol internetz,

All I can add to this, as a developer, it can be extremely frustrating when representatives of your team make announcements publicly that are not proven internally - or any kind of boasting. It creates just as many problems internally as it does to the fans. At the very least you can say "we're trying stuff out, and it might not be in the final game." Humility is always the answer in the press (and should have more of it IRL)

I think PM is sincere, but has a way of sharing his excitement in a way that can do more harm than good. It's VERY hard to promise more and deliver less without shit hitting the fan, but it's usually wiser to promise less and deliver more.

I've known people who can talk for hours and be the creative vision for a project, internally that means filtering their vision, contributing to it and managing the fallout in development, usually these are not the best people to send to represent your game to the press. Unless that said person is the reason for your funding, and then you have little choice.

This is not a problem of kickstarter, it's just how he is. This was happening a long time before kickstarter. I have respect for him in a development capacity, but not for his PR skills.
