ah so they can make liquid terminators that can form flesh and machine parts on the go, but a supersized terminator is 'out of place' ?

Yeah I loved that you could switch cover a lot more quickly than the roll in GoW by just sliding over.

Wow this really saddens me, I'm still hoping that this is all a really really bad joke :/

As many other here have already stated, Mrh2o was a really friendly and awesome guy, one of the few that were never ever ever cocky or elitist, and he has always had my respect.

My condolenses to your family and friends, Martin, their loss is unimaginable to me.

    Rest in peace

Agreed 100%, they're going to have a lot of unhappy employees now...

as opposed to the tons of happy employees microsoft is known for?

Isn't it the other way around?

I got to the point where I was thinking that life is simply too short to waste on stuff like this, and I’m wasting my youthful 20’s on something that I wont give a shit about in a few years, only to regret every single minute of it.

I think things are slowly, but steadily changing. As mazy also pointed out, studios are taking in fewer and fewer interns, especially straight from high school (18 year olds). The games industry has grown out the parent's basements and into the schools.

Or at least its getting there...

You dont need an education to teach at uni anymore, the school can take you in on "special terms" for teaching a lesser course. (Its usually used for students teaching other students, but works for outsiders with no degrees who are specialists at their field as well). It doesnt apply to science subjects ofcourse, but for a level design course; sure.

This is at least the way things work in norway.

But if you really spend some time to plan out videos and make them lengthy and in detail, explaining basically everything you could most likely sell well. Even with a weird english accent, which probably wont be so bad once you redo the voice on the videos 10 times

Hourences, in this day and age, why go to the trouble of setting up a course at a uni or something.

Why not just press record and fraps your monitor and speak into your microphone or something and sell "episodes" for like 10$ each?

Warby and Hessi shows the two sides of this argument, and quite possibly the crossroads which you are standing before you now.

Option A, Spend 3 years on an education and create your safety net. (In 10 years, can you honestly say you want to make games?)

Option B, Spend all your free time, even more than you would spend at a school or getting a university degree, to get the skills you need to get a secure job at a games company. (Assuming you are not aspiring to become a prop modeler for life). Now you might think that sounds negative, but its not, because you probably love what your doing so spending a lot of time on it wont be that bad

Me and Hessi both chose Option A, Friechamp initally chose Option B but then changed his mind after a year or so (I think?) and went back to option A. While Warby got a point that his work is in no way inferior to the ones with education, then I believe that this mindset is shortsighted and that it will backfire heavily if you ever grow tired of your current situation and want to move onto something else.
