This whole thing will fail if some mod doesnt take charge and do something.
I don't have the abilities to rally the troops
Someone else should take charge!

Quote from IRhey guys thought id show of my latest, been working on this for about a month now, the layout is almost final and finished, so shortly ill start replacing some props for the windows and doors with custom ones, the hdr on the sky box isnt final, so it will change, to be abit less onfire.
I dont understand how you manage to make this in just one month.. Do you get everything right on your first try, so you just compile like 3 times?
Quote from SchmungMy mapping abilities are middling, I know nothing about source at the moment though, still tied to the HL engine. I can model mechanical stuff decently enough. I have almost zero ability to texture stuff though. I'd love to team up with a couple of guys and spend time each evening working together on something and coming up with ideas. It'd make a nice change to the way I've worked before and expose me to new ideas and techniques, which is always a good thing.
Thats what I want to ![]()
Putting people together with people they dont know will also be binding for the community so people dont end up in different cliques... This way we can get to know eachother better ![]()
Well then.. We should start seeing who's interested so we can move onto getting people into teams and organizing this. As soon as we have that done we can all decide on a theme and set the time limit...
Ofcourse, theres mant flaws in this idea, but if we work a little on it I think it could work out to be very awesome... I know I'm so far from the greatest mapper on these forums and I'd love to have an opportunity to work with some of those that are. Even if we wont use that much custom material.
What if we have a signup list, but on that list we also have to write down our qualifications like 4/10 in mapping 9/10 modeling etc. (could be more or less complicated). Then we would put people together in teams where the pros can teach the newbs and there will be talent spread out among the different fields so the map could be great.

Speak for yourself.
Back on topic; If MS wanna sell their shit in europe, they gotta follow europes law.
I dont think i can explain it any simpler than that.
Quote from generalvivi*note* about the bar thing. most players wont even stop to look at something like this as they run through my map. The only people i see that would actually stop and critisize the map would be mappers like us.
Most of the community is or atleast has been a mapper. And even though the gameplay is still the breakpoint on a map if its good or not, the whole detail is like sprinkles ontop ![]()
It all adds to the flavour ![]()
can someone post pictures of the "new" one.. All i see is st0lve using the old avatar twice...
he is magnificent ![]()
What you do, is boot up your pc with a windows 98 CD in it, (you said you had the CD-ROM as a first bootdevice). You'll get three options (i think), one is to install windows98 and another is to just boot up your pc with cd rom (the last is without cd rom).
Obviously, if you cant get this far because your cd-roms dont work when you boot up you probably got a hardware virus or your motherboard is sining on its last verse?_?
okay, when you've booted the pc with the 98, and chosen to start it up with just the cd-rom. Then put in your winxp cd, go into the i386 folder and type install (or setup, or win, dont remember). that'll start the xp installation. And it'll find your NTFS drives... Which means you can do a clean format and then install winxp again...
Theres three things that work... The fast way, the long way and the way in between ![]()
The short way is to sit down and just make yourself do it. I know this sounds hard, but before you open hammer just visualize what you want to do, then go do it. Make yourself do it. If you get tired after a couple of minutes, just tell yourself you're not a looser and you want to finish it.
Start working out, this is something that will get your spirits up. The thing with mapping is that if you hit that wall, its because deep inside you think you're not good enough.. You dont have enough selfesteem (no offence^^). Working out helps alot with that.
The long way is to just toss any ideas of mapping out the door and go do something else for a couple of years...
It'll take a while :]
My suggestion is a good mix of the two first tips :]
