    hey man,

its really nice i like the style of it, one thing im alitle worried about are the really tight streets im alitle afraid of bad chokepoints from the looks of it,

also a visual thing that really stands out are the weird use of the chimney's, i would sink them into the bsp or make a nice litle edge between the transitions so it doesnt look as pasted on,

    besides the above, nice quality

yeh Ign gave it to much Gamespot to litle, its all part of the war

truth is prolly somewhere in the middle, i dont really trust either of them because its all about the ads/goodies and money they receive that determines what type of review/journalist you get

personally i truly like the demo, as being weird and cool to try out the upside down all around stuff, respect for the leveldesigners, im sure they had some kinda tool to flip their maps otherwise i would prolly go insane

worth the buy?, well im sure the Sp has some fun in it, we played the mp at work and it was fun for about a week, then we all sorta got bored with it, not enough weapons or truly insane weapons, only 8 people and spawning right behind someone that just killed you and prolly has really low health..

anyways im not getting it because while i enjoyed the demo it would prolly not last for me because its not really a game genre i play normally

also best opening ever, the moments with dog, i wished it would never end the expressions etc.

i havent finished it entirly yet though i fear im close to the end

cant wait till i get home and play it again

Go buy it if you havent, its worth every $

    boobs

to justify , theyre mounts of hay, and it is a field, point is to give crossing players abit of cover from mg fire that could be on the higher positions having a good view of the field, to further explain, the grey stone building right infront is a stable/barn connected to the windmill

so there , unless you want random crates,

nother screen did some adjustments to the "main" field for some better vis blocking and an extra route for both teams through the building,

each team has a "balcony" overlooking the field

There is a huge difference between admissable evidence and a binding legal contract. In the U S court system, evidence is simply any outside object or testimony to support your end of the story. It can be challenged, thrown out, or proven false by any lawyer worth his salt.

Situation 1: The mod maker made people sign the NDA to get sole legal rights to the work and keep all the profits.

Result: Unless the NDA was written by a lawyer who knows what he is doing, anything you agree to online transfering the rights to your work over to somebody else will get thrown out. There are a reason real NDAs are pages long. US copyright law is very complex. You miss a little clause here or there and it's worthless. In addition, judges and juries are given a large amount of leeway in cases like this where a 'woker' feels like an 'employer' has exploited his work. If a mod developer tried to keep all of the profits without a fair distribution to the people who made the assets, they'd be taken down very quickly in civil court.

Situation 2: The mod maker made people sign an NDA to prevent leaks.

Result: Nothing. What? You're going to take somebody to court? First off you'd have to bring them to court in whatever state or country they're in. You really going to fly to Nevada to sure somebody over your mod? Secondly, it would be a civil case, not criminal case, so your burden of proof is to show they have cause monetary harm to you and the mod, which is hard to do since 99% of mods don't produce profits. You can't present theorhetical profits you would have made down the line unless you already have a contract signed with a publisher, in which case the publisher's lawyers ahve probably already sent the team real NDAs. So if you're not going to take anybody to court, the best you can do is call them a poopypants on your mods website, which will make you look like bickering 14 year olds (which might very well be the case).

The only real benefit to NDAs is they act like psychological leashes to 14 year olds on your mod team that don't know any better. Since they think it's real, they'll keep in line. But honsetly, if some mod team tried to get me to agree to one, I'd just laugh. It's just instant sign #1 that there is some bad management going on. Either they're greedy or they're inept at getting the team to behave.

Much like the Gearbox COGs program. We have about a 50% success rate, those that don't seem to have the drive or determination just aren't brought on fulltime; Others just decide that they want to continue with school or that maybe Professional LD is not what they want to do.

    exactly,

but unfortunatly big companies, dont have the same policy, they just hire, hire, hire sometimes it seems like everyones welcome, seriously I had a dude working with me who's previous work was security agent, he didnt have anything with games besides the ocisional time he played them, the guy was incharge of the leveldesign, making the most insane dicisions, and when i commented him on perhaps how to improve it he prety much wanted to beat me up outside, now this is a very extreme example, but it is true, did the guy get fired? nope relocated to a diffrent map because they simply need all the people.

like i said before not every noob is bad we've all been a noob once, its just the ones that dont give a rat shit about what theyre doing, and unfortunalty their numbers are growing.

    some tips from another forum,

When you install it, where it prompts you to install the AEGIA PhysX drivers, DONT!!. This is a common tip that I gleaned from a few GR forums. They will cause your framerate, even on fairly high end systems, to plummet and the game runs terribly.

If you have installed them and are having problems running a smooth game, uninstall them. Trust me on this one.

Nvidia users: Upgrade to the latest FORCEWARE DRIVERS. The 84.43's.

These two steps alone, will give a HUGE performance boost.

If you are getting a black screen possibly coupled with getting dumped back to the desktop upon starting the game, go into your systems firewall settings and select "New allowed application" and look for GRAW.exe in the GRAW folder and allow it to access the net. Same thing happened with SWAT 4, some of you may recall.

havent tried it but it sounds logical

Well that reminds me of an article posted here some days ago, that basically said the average career span in the game industry was 5 years, after which people move on to other things. If that's true at all, that would explain the need for a lot more people, and when you want low costs, you're gonna take all the newbies like me and pay them less than any experienced guy.

Yes you need to start somewhere, and yes you won't always find great level designers. But it's just like any job where one is hired because of his motivation, and one needs to work his way up the ladder. It's all about the mentality with which you go to work every day.

I understand how this is frustrating for far more experienced level designers, and people who have had to work real hard and for a lot longer to get similar positions (and of course those that still don't have said positions), but this is the same thing in any industry. You'll find opportunists every step of the way, and bluntly put, some very very lucky guys

Bottom line, if these newbies aren't any good, they'll be gone at the end of the project. Permanent positions are only given to those that can do something.

A dangerous mentality would be to think you're the new hottest shit to hit the fan and think you're the new genius no one can afford to lose. But those guys don't last long either.

I agree, motivation is everything, and there are those that learn want to learn and are greatful and love it, my words are more aimed towards those that go do their job like its any other and lack that motivation and passion to discover and improve themselfs, unfortunatly thats what comes with this huge need for bigger teams, not just leveldesigners. ofcourse its not everyone I can see that around me aswell. but logically you cant deny that you'll be more likely to find that motivation with someone that came from a mod comunity like this one or any other

that said, I wasnt reffering to you ofcourse, or ment it to be personal

It's mighty impressive, though I showed some of the screens at work and gfx artists were picking on every little bit they could, claiming it was most likely BiA 2 assets that hadn't been reworked yet.If what they're saying holds any water, I just can't wait to see the final product.

what their saying is mostlikly bs, and i could fill in why but theres no need.

    it looks great gj gb

i guess sad enough this is true, not to piss on anyone because everyone has the start somewhere, however i think that were starting to see with the new generation of games, and bugets/teams that come with it that big companies are just trying to fill up all the empty spots, and rely on the experienced people and leads to bring it together, who are heavly out numbered by the fast amount of new people that are either straight from a college they didnt even finish or picked out off the crowd of people that made one or 2 maps in their lives, which is logical but not always easy to have people make decisions on gameplay but dont really understand the mechanics of it,were in small companies, experience is desired for their future will often depand on the title.

funny as this gona sound, i got it at work and it runs badly on my work pc, which is oviously a prety good above average machine , so people on my team tryed it aswell, but have the same thing its just unplayable, im hoping its just the demo?

i put everything on low and still nothing, may i sugested if its not something with the demo to atleast allow people to turn off AA, right now you cant but i suspect it could save people some frames

about the game itself, besides the stuttering and almost none exsisting fps, it felt really cool, moving up the streets team mates respond well and easy although sometimes they act like idiots and dont take cover when they should, car system is oviously briliant best ever! the heli ride in the demo is long and boring cant really see much through the windows, but then again the drop on that big fat rope add's alot, really has the black hawk down feeling, except you drop in some quiet courtyard,

all in all, i dig it the graphics are good, it feels right, and cool.

    just the fps 0_o
