Almost done with part 2 (of 3) of my single player project. Sending it out to beta testers this weekend, most likely. It feels good to nearly be done with it... until the testers point out how terrible it is and how I'll have to redo everything.

I want to know more ^^

If you need more testers I'm up for it.

    Looks awesome.

The tarp on the robot to the right looks more specular in the movie shot though.

Man, I love your work!! The hammer-&-egg set is brilliant, funny and original! Congrats

I also love the potato one a lot

Do you know about Rodny Mella? He's a French designer known in the whole world, doing a lot of conceptual things a bit like yours. He has a website but it's presently off... I'll give you his web address as soon as the site is available

    Keep up the good work

    Thank you

good point, I'll look into improving it. I'm not super happy with my texturing or the geometry on the road currently.

I really like the scene, but the road might look better if it had a cobblestone curve to it, so that the middle of the road is the highest point and it bends down at the gutters to make sure rainwater isn't stuck on the streets.

Nice man! way to be creative, haha love it!

    Thanks!

The reason it's black and white is because I backlit the scene with a high powered green laser that seemed too energetic for a "couch potato". Might fiddle with the contrast later.

Not really the casual photo you see everyday, a potato? "sitting" in a chair, I like it though, maybe it could use some more contrast but other than that I really like it!

    It's a couch potato!

I'm amazed you could get such fast speeds with ISO100

And great idea with the flash, I might try that sometime

What? He is using an external flash, and when doing so, you always put it at ISO 100 because of the available light coming from the flash...

Have you actually tried photographing water droplets in mid-air? Even with a lot of available light you need a very quick shutter timer.

DVS you mistaked ISO for shutterspeed

Not really, faster shutter speed = less light = higher iso or aperture required.

cool shots and different from what we see usually a few nitpicks: I wouldn't break the background, the line isn't completely straight and it takes the focus away too much. it could also help to move the background further away and what we do at product shootings is light the background from below and behind to further soften the shadows (or remove them completely) and have a smoother appearence for the background. On the lighting of the objects: Esp in the firt shot it seems you've lit the scene from the front directly, which is not bad, seeing you really want to focus on the egg but you should play around with a setup of multiple lights from different directions as it will most probably not only kill the very black shadows below the egg and below the hammers emboss but might actually help with the surface structure of the egg. while you might want the hammers material to really stand out it might compose better with the message of the scene if the egg's surface is smoother.

Thanks a bunch for great critique dude

I tried a few of the things you mentioned and uploaded it here: http://d-v-s.deviantart.com/art/Which-c ... -116849882

I have a bunch of shots with different lighting, but what's unique about this set up is that my lighting setup sucks, I'm basically using a 15 sec shutter and moving the flashlight around in a circular pattern quite quickly meaning it's hard to get some of the spaces underneath the egg and stuff, but I really get what you mean with the comment.

Should've gone with a white egg and made the whole piece b/w tbh

I don't like the lighting in the first one, so I may reshoot it later.

I like both shots a lot, although the composition of the lower one is a bit weird, you have trees with vertical lines and then you have felled trees with diagonal lines leading you out of the picture.

The top and bottom borders on the first one aren't that bad tbh, they accentuate the horizontal flow of the composition.

    Keep up the good work

Don't take this the wrong way, I like where you're going with this so far, but it needs more distractions or a "complexity" effect.

The second shot looks post processed but decent none the less.
