Ah, ok, that makes sense. Stock Q3/D3 patches are pretty much just the curved bits, and not really well suited for terrain work... though they can do the job in a pinch.

Really all they'd have to add would be vertex control of the original brush face(s)... otherwise the editor already supports displacements on all axes; imagine being able to set up your terrain's initial roll with vert tweaking before painting the rest, or being able to add a damaged feel to a rounded wall (which you can do already, but getting the rounded wall is a bit of a chore

you gotta love radiant. patches is what hammer really lacks. like in cod-radiant i could make ten times better terrain. And you dont need props for every little nonsense.
I love patches, but oof do I hate them for terrain
I actually prefer Valve's displacements for terrain over using patches (though modeling stuff by hand in d3 has its advantages)... But Unreal wins the terrain category, of course

Mino, I laughed out loud at the KEKE building
Rest of the map looks great, too

Merk, that second shot on the interior makes me think of Kameo (in a good way). Cool stuff!
Some really awesome stuff here, guys. Peris, you came out of nowhere with that map.

what happened to 10pm cst? it's 9!

Plus, Gears date with former Raven buddies. You're not skimping out on us, are you?

The thought of you entering struck such fear into his heart, Ferret - he only did what he had to. On that note, when's your entry landing Squirrel?
Lies, I tried my hardest to convince him to enter!
However, my entry won't be arriving by the deadline
Map started having issues and I just couldn't justify staying up working on it when I've got work (and a first-thing meeting) the next day. I'd have pulled it off if my parents hadn't been here last weekend.
Still going to finish it though.Has been quite the fun journey re-learning Hammer more in-depth and actually getting things up and running. And quite the embarrassment, too; a combination of a few things I was used to from 3.4 and a few things I was used to from Radiant led me to send the rmf to a buddy at Valve... only to find out I had a leak. selfEsteem--;

I think ferret was saying you have 5 3/4 hours to compile and upload your maps.

D3: COD3 was by Treyarch, so it doesn't matter if you like it or not; IW's in the clear

I would hope this is on both console and PC.Meanwhile, notice that this game might actually be rated M given the launch site has an age gate that requires you to be 17 (yes i tested it). It's still RP but this could be where IW always wanted to go in ESRB rating.
IW has clarified that they will be shipping on the PC. Should only be the Treyarch iterations that are console exclusive.
Also guessed an M rating based on the site; consistent with ATVI's sites for other M-rated titles (Q4 specifically comes to mind)

omfg I was there.

I can have my map up and running in time for this deadline - but is it really necessary to sit on them for a week? I actually hate the idea of extending the deadline again, but I do agree it's silly to just do nothing waiting for the playtest.

haha Erratic, I'm feeling the same way though at least I didn't start the damned thing

Would have liked to get more done last weekend but my parents were in town... getting some work this weekend but now I'm in full-on last minute mode. I have to learn how to light in Source in the next few hours, but I'm at least fairly confident about the layout, although it's a bit tight.

I saw some people that thought the dog was a dinosaur, haha.
I did spot it, though.

-
ack, I just posted feedback in the other thread. You're confusing me, man!

-
Holy shit, Method, that's awesome. Your content is coming together really well and the lighting looks fantastic. I think this map is going to be right near the top as far as visuals in Q4 maps go.
Thematically, the new structure does seem to stray a bit from the usual urban theme - as do the accent lights near the ceiling - which is starting to give a Doom III vibe. In a good way, though; they look great. I think you can blend that stuff into the theme well. And if you want that sort of urban sci-fi, you nailed it.

Don't blame Activision for trying to make money by wanting more CoD branded product. There is something to be said for the value of a brand in gaming now. That said, I agree there has been brand confusion with CoD2: Big Red One.
I'd even argue they're continuing brand confusion by splitting the franchise with Treyarch; COD3 should be considered a continuation of the console arc of Finest Hour and Big Red One (it even branches from the BRO engine path, not COD2), separate from IW's lineage. And, of course, BRO should have never had a number associated with it.
I've greatly enjoyed the COD franchise, and even did enjoy COD3 on the whole, but I'm damn glad to see Infinity Ward is back up to the plate.

UO was made by Treyarch.
No, UO was Gray Matter, that has since been merged into the arrogantly console-only Treyarch, which is why COD 3 didn't ship for the PC.
leileilol: IW did actually start the franchise, you know. Activision's been poorly milking it with the inconsistent and confusing naming and less-than-stellar console renditions of the first couple, but if anyone's going to be making a CoD game it should be IW.

hahahahahapriceless KFS

bf2 rocks though
That game and Indigo Prophecy are the only games I want to get rid of - from a packrat like me, that's terrible. Not only did it take me a half hour to bind my controls, but every time I've tried to play it (on multiple systems, latest drivers, etc.) it hard locks within 5 seconds of starting the game.
It's a piece of shit. I'll never buy a Battlefield game again, and I loved 1942.

The bind controls menu in Battlefield 2.

The fanciest I've dressed for a game-related interview is a long sleeved t-shirt and my lighter colored pair of pants. But all t-shirts and normal pants or shorts.
I was actually specifically told not to dress up for Raven, which was awesome since everyone was like "oh, don't forget to take nice clothes" as I tried to tell them what industry I was interviewing for.
