I was never into her music because I'm only into unlistenable drone, but I remember this episode of NMTB making me like her. Though she does kind of get pissed.

I had to learn the ropes but it was no problem as it was all similar to stuff I'd done already.

But I did kind of go AWOL twice and almost failed my probation. Yeah.

  • Silent Hill HD Collection

I’ll buy this but I’ll rant about it all the same. It doesn’t really sound like a collection if it’s two games from a series containing around seven. Silent Hill 2 also had a small extra scenario called Born from a Wish in some re-releases and, although not great, it isn’t mentioned.

The console version of Silent Hill 2 is one of my favourite games and I’ve played it a ton of times. Very well executed story (and I’m not one for this side of games), it is really good at portraying James’ issues in the game itself, excellent pacing and this great sombre, depressing atmosphere. The PC version had some really strange decisions I hope don’t make it into the collection; like having all the secret 2nd play-through weapons unlocked from the start, so before you even pick up the first ‘real’ weapon you’re armed with an instant-kill chainsaw. And

Silent Hill 3 is great too and surprisingly different, the atmosphere is aggressive and heavy, and it's more full-on. The character does have some inner turmoil but you know what it is from the start, whereas she doesn’t... Providing you’ve completed Silent Hill 1. If you haven’t I imagine it’s a bit confusing at times especially

. SH1 really should be included because SH3 is not really stand-alone.

The Room was another game they added Silent Hill ties into late in development. It has some really good moments in it but halfway through they pull something that ultimately made me stop playing.

The article doesn't even make a coherent argument. He says people shouldn’t be surprised by Team Bondi, which he’s researched through twitter comments, and the latter half of the article is him saying all the practices of Team Bondi are, by his own personal criteria, way past acceptable levels. It’s almost as if he’s a troll writing something purposely controversial for attention... Wait.

He seems to just assume Team Bondi’s management, despite everything we’ve read about them, are going to pay out big bonuses based on nothing at all. I know someone who worked insane crunch for a whole year and got a bonus of £200, whereas at another company he got a very, very generous bonus for working pretty much normal hours except on milestones and end of project crunch like you would expect.

There actually is a valid argument that most studios cannot afford to flick a switch and pay everyone overtime. But apparently we’re not allowed to side anywhere in the grey between “9-5” and “Team Bondi.”

Icy hates Cave Story and their roleplaying games, which no self-respecting weeaboo would do, so I imagine it's just the easiest source for obscure titles to name drop. He's almost like Auntie Pixelante's counter-part, where he's the voice for complex and skill-orientated games. Only instead of having to sift through blog updates of random vagina pictures and twitter drama, it’s philosophy copy and paste and women hate.

If it's all a joke it's a well done one. I remember reading the forum and I could not for the love of god understand why anyone would post there let alone pay money. There is really no discussion to be had, you just get banned over nothing and the owner is the biggest prick online. they only worthwhile articles worth reading are those about arcade gaming http://insomnia.ac/commentary/arcade_culture/ .

Yeah, it's a good article. And as an arcade nerd I do think he does sum up the whole experience very well.

Man, it's been ages since I've been on insomnia.ac. He's made the forums pay to view to hide the megalomania.

Limbo review reads like my post… Also, I like the totally intentional way his reviews also satirise indie “bums” fascination with tiny, frustrating to read 3x3 fonts.

I do like his article on arcade culture though, back before he got banned from shmups.com and was kind of sane.

I can see people enjoying it for the aesthetics alone. But I didn't like the puzzles or platforming. And it's a puzzle platformer.

The level design reminds me of those flash games where you have to remember an increasingly long colour sequence.

Steam is like an online digital distribution platform for the PC, whereas all the other online digital distribution platforms for PC are like an online digital distribution platform for the PC that I don’t have installed.

If game developers are going to suffer, it’s when people don’t buy games because every publisher is running their own Betamax Steam clone.

But I’m not going to buy Battlefield anyway, unless they add a sexually androgynous class where you skewer people on your spiky hair.
