If you can't get a copy you can replicate the experience by painting a wall and watching it.

Quote from Thrik
Kickstarter is a good idea, I've seen some surprising success stories on there. Conversely, some I thought would do great actually didn't. I guess it's largely down to how well you market the idea of the game and what you show — at least with so much development already you have a lot in that department rather than shallow promises. If you can name drop past employers and stuff in the description, even better.
It is a lot of effort and I'd understand if you all just wanted to move on, but something to consider as a last ditch attempt if all else fails. The worst that can happen is you don't get fully funded, in which case Kickstarter awards nothing.I would second this. Success on kickstarter is all about marketing and you could easily do well with the media and demo you have available.

I assume you guys have considered all this though. Shame. Hope it all works out okay.

This is the interview. He was quite diplomatic: http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/commen ... n-diablo-3
I think the most rage-worthy comment is by the elf Andrew Silvernail (Andrew Chambers?). It's safe to say the reason Diablo 3 sold fast is because of the previous two games David Brevik partly created. Though he also ignores that and just credits him for Hellgate London...
Drama also prompted me to check out what Blizzard are doing to Diablo 3, such as the Paragon system and item/content changes. I don't think my group will be picking this back up.

There's also a new video around where you fight inside FOX News. Boss sequence is visually very interesting though the fight boils down to pushing buttons and fighting mook enemies.
I kind of wish this was a new franchise.

I just finished watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica which is an anime for little girls. Actually, I should've watched this a year ago but totally didn't "get" and thought it was generic magical girl poop. Almost Audition levels of misdirection. It was good. So I liked it.

It's one of those games where you can fail big-time but you always feel like it's your own fault. Reminds me of Demon's Souls or Etrian Odyssey. Really, this is the only way to do failure in video games, but since the trend of doing two checkpoints per minute designers have gotten lazy.

I watched The Amazing Spiderman last night. I don't think it was as good as the first Spiderman movie with Maguire. It’s innocent enough, with some decent action scenes held together with scenes of varying cheese, but I can’t say I’m excited for the two inevitable sequels.
Minor spoilers (not enough to use the tag): My main gripe is that Peter Parker is way too cool in this. From wikipedia "Spider-Man has a terrible identity problem, a marked inferiority complex, and a fear of women. He is anti-social, [sic] castration-ridden, racked with Oedipal guilt, and accident-prone ... [a] functioning neurotic." He was meant to be a downtrodden nerdy kid that losers like me could relate to. In this he is not a target of bullying, though he does get himself thumped trying to intervene, and he spends most of his time skateboarding around dispensing one-liners and making girls wet even before he confidently breaks into a laboratory (wowing a scientists and wooing his crush) to get bitten by a spider. Da fuck.

Progear (Arcade / 360)
I've also finished this before but the fact I'm still playing it has to count for something.
In London there is an arcade called Casino just outside Goodge Street station. Casino is basically a small building stuffed with fruit machines but the owner, unable to get a gambling licence for downstairs, has turned its basement into a very small arcade. In here the cabinets are ugly, monitors roll, joysticks jam, and the buttons don't work. Progear is one of the few shmup boards owned by the Casino, rather than on loan, and the first arcade game where I got a genuine one credit clear. I don't think I would have done it without the friendly competition from other arcade goers. This kind of social gaming is pretty much gone these days and I think it's a real shame.
The game itself is a hard one to explain because, like many arcade games, it's intrinsically designed to look really simple at first until you start trying to play it "properly". Fundamentally it plays how you would expect a horizontal bullet hell shmup would, however the gem systems let you destroy enemies to cancel nearby bullets, which is good for score in the first two stages but vital for survival in everything past that. You could compare it to the Ikaruga polarity system except with some flexibility. It's a very marmite game in my experience, but it will always be one of my favourites if only through cloying nostalgia.
I was extremely rusty so my run is all over the place. I still hit the loop, so I went to 2-1 instead of the end sequence, but I'm out of practice.

On harder difficulties when you’re navigating through fire, poison and lasers like a laggy game of Gradius, and deciding the best place to put yourself in regards to your condition and what you’re fighting, it does take some ability. Not much, but probably more dexterity than anything in Diablo 2.
Honestly if you haven’t played to Inferno you just don’t know, man. The whole thing turns into a facebook game where you grind for in-game currency or part with real cash to see another boss die for the fourth time, causing it to drop a singular rare with an item level of 55 that mainly specialises in health globe radius.

Mushihimesama Futari (Arcade / 360)
This is easily one of my all-time favourite shmups. You play as a little girl riding a beetle or a little-boy-who-looks-like-a-little-girl riding a dragon, and fire needles and lasers at dinosaurs, fish, insects, spiders and dragons while they vomit purple bullets and explode into points. Art.
Graphics are nice but it was originally made for a 240x320 display so loses a lot of detail when scaled up. Seems less inspired by Nausicaa this time but the influences are obviously there. I think the music is great and really suits the game, with stage 3, stage 5 and the final boss being highlights. Death sound can be irritating but you can fix this by not dying.
There are six modes if you include black label (which you should), then also novice modes, 1.01 modes (the beta) and arrange modes, which are cute but not the real game. Gameplay is entirely streaming orientated; this means taking advantage of the fact all bullets are in some way player relative and dictating how they cut up the available area. I was going to go into the scoring systems here but I probably shouldn’t.
It lacks some of the more organic patterns of its predecessor but to be honest some of those patterns where a huge pain. Some of these persist on the stage 3 and 4 bosses; I think the randomness and increasing speed make them very, err, insecty.
Late Edit: My clear.

Not a day goes by where I don't walk away from the office, sighing with relief, thankful that the CEO hasn't targeted me in one of his frequent, typical and mentally insane firing sprees.
