Set during Albion's age of heroes, 400 years before the events of the first Fable, it casts you as one of a number of different heroes - and your friends as three more.

It's designed for four-player co-op. Each hero has different skills: on-stage, Lionhead showed a Prince Charming-alike who's nimble with a sword, an archer whom you play from a third-person-shooter viewpoint, a female barbarian sort with a Yorkshire accent, a magic user whose spells slow enemies to a standstill. Here's the kicker, though: there's another player, who controls the villain, viewing the map from a top-down perspective and placing enemies, traps, ambushes and more for the four heroes to overcome.

It's a lot of money for a game that wants to be written about more than it wants to be played.

Looks like they're trying to excite with minimal information and the weight of CliffyB's name and have made a rather large error in judgement.

At least nothing in these attempted-teasers is waist high.

Well, we never had a Speccy because we owned an Amstrad 464 instead. However, some of my friends had them and as far as I can remember the ZX Spectrum had RGB out so you'd need to plug it into a monitor, no joypad support so you'd have to sit at your desk facing said monitor, and it could run compilers (for all those listings), word processors, spreadsheets and databases. Yeah, okay, modern consoles do a lot more than just play games but I don't think this is a console... If you just mean the overwhelmingly majority of software was games you'd also have a strong case for the MSX (and maaaybe the PC-98).

I play games on my PC. Why isn't it on the console list?!

Master System, Sega Genesis Mega Drive, SNES, PS2, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, 360, PS3, Wii, Ouya*. I also did a lot of gaming growing up on the Amstrad 464 and Amiga 1200.

    * I have paid for an Ouya. They have claimed to send me it twice now, once more after I contacted them, and I still haven’t received it.

Missing ZX Spectrum on that list.... FAIL.

I don't really want to create a "Work Release" thread every time I pop out another jam game (Ludum Dare next weekend, woo) so Doppelgunner is KIND OF finished as in the Jam version is out.

So far people have been positive and I think it's a nice proof of concept... but the puzzles are not particularly difficult. I might carry on working on this idea, though. Currently trying some stuff out in Unity.

I really love this. It doesn't pull any punches but really rewards you if you do things right. It's mostly based around you having a strong dodge, 8-way airdash, a high DI wall slam, and a super bar. As far as I'm aware all the graphics, code and design are done by one dude over ~5 years, but he's not good at is marketing. A few days after "release" it he kinda revealed sales of 13 and I know who four of those were... You could totes pick it up here: http://tylerdoak.com/aceswild/

Originally the idea was the "original" and "clones" saw the world differently; the player had lots of directional arrows telling them where to go whereas the clones saw propaganda about how they were being used, shouldn't cooperate and should kill the original - since that's what doppelgangers usually do; with some kind of pay-off at the end.

However, I'm not really working with any art assets so I started thinking very functionally, and now it's six Portal-style test chamber rooms and doesn't really need or want any of that stuff. I fear I will never make an arts.

Yeah, only the original can go through the portals. I was thinking about making the gates look different through the clone cameras but that might be even more confusing!

Working on something for 7dFPS. It's called Doppelgunner and you have a gun that creates clones.

Added. We can play some DotA and Skullgirls (I hear GGPO even keeps it smooth across the pond). I'd need to put some time in, though!

Which version of Skullgirls are you playing? The PC beta version, which will be patched onto console version with Squigly, is doing some really cool changes. Making it more about deciding between damage and resets rather than getting both - I really wanted to get into SG's but the year-long combo into 16f reset into death of SDE was a bit of a turn-off.

I've also been playing DotA2 and watching the international. I've found the douchenozzle ratio is much better than I found in League, but I'm only at 20-odd games and it's supposedly in the middle of the pool you get the characters.

You can. It just doesn't let you run multiple source games.
