In the end this is still an industry to create money, and well..corporations go long ways to make money, this is just one of them. Of course it's not honest but I think those of you who thought people were honest in this world need to start waking up. It's all about the big ole' $. Especially these days where the economy is going down the shitter.

I'm surprised there are still people in the industry surprised by this kinda business protocols...embargos on reviews and previews (unless the score is high) have always been around it seems to me....It doesn't make the practice any more right or wrong (except to the eyes of the shareholders) but surprising? Hardly...

What he said. As stupid as it is, this is common business practice in the industry unfortunately. Especially with big corporations.

26 people got the axe yesterday, and what seems like 15 more over the last month.... so in total about 40 people lost their jobs. that's a pretty heavy hit for a small studio like Gearbox

Can't be bothered to read what people here think of it, but I saw it yesterday and had very low expectations with all the so-so reviews there's been, but I really liked it. Sure its not as polished as Casino Royale in plot, but the action was fucking brilliant. And I for one don't give a fuck if it's action is very much inspired by the Bourne movies. I'd say that some of the chases in this movie were better than some of the stuff in the Bourne movies even. And the people that say that "Ooooh, its not James Bond anymore, he's too aggressive and confrontational", go watch the old movies, I still love the old ones but they're completely different movies and I like that this is something else. Too much of that charming old prick, gimme some explosions!

I still think Casino Royale is a much better movie overall, but this was hardly the train wreck that a lot of the reviews I saw made it out to be.

what exactly is the difference? was your comparison with diablo done in order to display mindful vs mindless fun?

i might be the short sighted guy here, but as far as i know, fun is fun. whatever adjective you put in front of it still makes it, well, fun.

i guess mindless fun = just simple shooting/run and gun action type fun

mindful fun = games in which you actually have to THINK and be strategic but which are still fun. or adventure games with a deep story etc...

they are different types of fun

Peter Moore is an idiot then...go back to the SNES and play Megaman 6. It's fucking difficult!!!!! But those were the games that made me obsessed with gaming to begin with. they weren't easy. but they were challenging and fun as hell. if anything needs to change then its the dumbing down and simplifying of games in order to please people who rarely ever play games anyway.... not gonna happen but thats my opinion...

I don't know if it's just me but I don't think it looks dated at all. Keep in mind that this is a multiplayer game first of all.. and not just multiplayer but co-op. so everything is quite low res. It's not using a lot of normal mapping that's for sure but I personally think it looks much better than most games that have more advanced features like that. The environments look awesome and nicely balanced, awesome lighting as usual from valve and everything looks uniform and polished.

I love it. and the game is fucking fun

When people play games they do it to have some very easy mindless fun

You can't generalize it like that. There are still a lot of games that don't fall into this category and that do generate sales.

If it was that simple there would be no more strategy games, rpgs, etc...

    What reason is that?

Also, Monkey Island wasn't just ANY point-and-click adventure. It was a phenomenal game with amazing story and great artwork and music. So just saying "lol why dont yyou just play one of the other point-and-click games" it's like saying "Why do you have to play CoD4. There are lots of indie companies making great FPS games for 5 dollars why dont you play one of those" It's not the same. I miss you, Monkey Island [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]
