taste differs peri. I thought suicidebomber was much more fun than rambohulk, and with physics it will literally shock and awe u
I just made my first box for source. Its supposed to become like fy_suicidebomber for 1.6 .Dunno yet when or if the map will evr be finished
Oh btw, the box has no geometry

needs some more contrast on the lights and more colored lights=)
what did u expect?
now some lightsources and some more contrast on the lighting
Quote from MazyThe red lighting around the tube, and the tube area in general looks like it could use some work. The other area looks pretty good.I donno, I just think theres too much of the red lights tbh, but I think its more a matter of toning them down.
I agree with the red lights. Apart from that i have a feeling that this is just an unaccessible area u walk thru in the tubes, and seeing those openings in the walkingtubes i guess u can barely see the area at all as a player. It would be nicer if the tubes were closed and ppl had to walk outside that area to find a way past. That chopper area looks interesting as well, but looks also like u decided to keep it inaccessable too. Afraid of ppl falling off? Put a gun in the chopper and an rpg on a walkway into the sky or somthing. Other shots are a little unclear, shot from weird angles or close up on a wall, i wanna see some shots from the players perspective. Overall looks a bit too depressing for rd ![]()
But like mazy said
QuoteAllround pretty good so far
Well u have to give them the benefit of the doubt. So far Bully doesnt look too bad.
instead of crates, u can use blocks of ice or other shapes, cut out from the floor perhaps or have a giant crack in the icefloor with the ocean beneath. Some rocks as well, i dont see any rock so looks more like concrete is underneath it all. Some wheeltracks on the snow, some green camo or yellow arctic army tents would fit in too i think and sum snow sticking on the walls and hanging from roofs.... and inside.... molten rivers of icewater with lucious blingbling crystals growing on the walls. That tree doesnt look very arctic btw
Oh and i think what bothers me about the stuff in ur skybox is that almost all maps ive seen use that cylinder thing. Industrial maps, city 17 maps, even inferno which is supposed to be a meditarenean town is surrounded by that thing:(
It doesnt really make ur map stand out or look arctic
rockdude and cap P, both look very nice aesthetically ![]()
i want to go, a levelord kinda trip to leipzig
Quote from ReNoIts not "cheap" to put in inaccessible areas, its a necessity. If you let people get up to those higher areas for example, then you would need to put in surrounding areas since the player can now see over and beyond the current high points.
No they cant. If u walk into into a doorway of house, u cant see over the house can u? There are plenty of tricks to make it possible. Anyway my point was that in many maps the most interesting areas are the ones which are unreachable. It seems ppl can be very creative with filling up the background, becaus they dont have to bother with ppl walking around it, entering it or climbing on top.
One of the things i think makes a good map is giving players as much freedom as possible to move around , so they can use most of the space of ur map instead of just watching at it. Instead of putting great buildings in the background just for eyecandy, let them climb onto a balcony for an rpg or somthing. If ur map is high, let ppl go up.
Quote from von*ferretAre you kidding me people? in no way is this map busy. There is plenty of depth yes, but not in a way that would clutter the map. Most of the hallways are littered with (shudder) crates. How uncluttered can you get without putting nothing in there? The first pic is the only one that I can see being cluttered, and that is in player's non-accessible areas. I'd have to play the map to criticize the gameplay, but in the artic, regular cars probably wouldn't work very well? Trees wouldn't grow? Giant open doors wouldn't be there for maintaining heat? Some things to consider if you dont change the level's name.
i agree with Ferret. I wanted to write somthin about that clutter in the skybox but i thought i was crazy. It seems to be a trend to put as much stuff in there to make it look like the horizon goes on forever, just an easy way to make ur map look detailed and impressive. I just dont like that kinda useless cluttering in the skybox. The actual map doesnt look cluttered to me at all, just a bit squarish and i notice again some cool areas which are unaccessable for the player. The outside area looks cool but i have a feeling those buildings and stuff on the second story is all just eyecandy. I hate that, its so cheap ![]()
I remember playing de_morningstar long time ago and the 3 coolest rooms, a cinema, swimming pool and outside area were all unaccessable
 ![]()
i think the structure would fit in completely and utterly perfect if it had some more open space around it. Now it becums a bit mazy
i like it mazy ![]()
