The same people that Mario 64, Zelda Wind Waker, Banjo Kazooie, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, old school Lucas Arts games, and all the other games of the ilk that get bashed for their toonish graphics: people that appreciate good games.

I'm envisioning a low-imprint OS that still uses FAT32/NTFS style files and structures (making it easy for windows users to transition all of their stuff without it breaking), but has a lot of cusomizations to download/purchase/access online. You basically boot into a widget manager.

KONG IS BAD
Why people aren't picking up on that faster is beyond me. It's split into two sections: the first person shooter, and the Kong part. The FPS is decent at best. Nothing is too hard, and most enemies can be beaten by relying on buggy design issues with the enemies interracting with the environment. It's about as much fun as Turok 2. Not bad. But not good. It's jsut meh.
The Kong section is a fucking joke. It's a point and click adventure. You move kong to a certain location, hit the action button, and he does a really shiny animation to get to the next section. Does it look amazing? Yes. It looks really bad ass to be swinging and jumping around, but it's just holding down forward until you can't move anymore, and then clicking a button. a 5 year old could beat it. The only challenge is the dinos, which can each be beaten by a specific combination of moves. Figure out the combination and you always beat taht thing.
I give the game a 9 on graphics, and a 3 on gameplay. It's mundane and apparently only consists of about 4 or 5 hours of play to beat. Seems like 360 games are too expensive to plop down that money on 5 hours of play.

Supposed Vista is supposed to be radically different (although beta screenshots haven't shown me anything staggeringly new). After reading a bunch of stuff regarding the 360 launch and Xbox Live, some of those ideas are supposed to be central to the new OS. Insteading of browing things with folders and such, you browse by groups and themes (Entertainment leads you to your movies and music and games, Work leades you to your applications, etc).
Of course, the system specs are also rediculous. Ms seems to be taking the position that if you want it, you need new stuff, which will then lead to more innovation in the hardware market. Google meanwhile seems to be taking the stance that what they release should work on as many things as possible, which is why the idea of them making an OS isn't far fetched. Something that strikes a happy medium between Windows/OSX/Linux and can be run on different scales. So your massive gaming rig can run it with cool bells and whistles, and libraries and third world countries can run it on older cheap systems.

Yes, manufacturing costs go down over time, which is why prices cuts become viable down the road. And if anybody really wants to debate the matter any farther, look at the Gamecube. It did cost $200, now it's donw to $100, which is still waaaay under manufacturing costs. If you think there's only $100 of tech in that thing, you're retarded.

The trick is to save it and auction it a few days before Christmas with overnight delivery on December 23rd or something. By that point, demand will be insane, and certain parents will be willing to spend anything to keep their bratty children happy.

That's the error you get that has nothing to do with what the actual error is. When I had it, my cache file had been corrupted (by Steam oddly enough). Delete and re-download worked for me.
Others have had similar experiences. And still others have had dis-similar experiences. 50/50 shot I suppose.

Protesting is fundamental because it's free speech in action. It's one of the most basic freedoms we have. Do you have to like it? No. But just because you don't like what people are saying, doesn't mean they can't say it.
Right now we're in Iraq to "democracy build" and bring their country freedom. Is this why we went over there originally? No. But hey, if you can't find WMDs, you might as well do something positive. Now I support the mission and I support the troops. I'm about one of the biggest liberals you'll ever meet, but I'm not an idiot. You can't just leave. It would leave a massive power-vacuum. You've got to make sure that Iraq is stable enough for us to leave. The problem is the President's plan is doing a shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty job at that. That is why people are protesting for the msot part. Yeah, there are always those protesters that say idiotic things. It can't be helped. But don't paint the entire liberal, anti-war community with the same brush. I don't call every Republican an homophobic, racist, anti-woman, anti-education, anti-science, anti-liberty, gun toting, wife beating, child abusing, Bible thumping redneck just because the people on the very far right tend to be. We can play that game all day long, but it doesn't get anywhere.
So back to protesting. We can't try to bring liberty to Iraq and oppress liberty at home. First of all, it's massively hypcritical. Secondly, it doesn't give Iraq much confidence in the system we're trying to build for them. Now, does protesing decrease moral? Maybe, maybe not. I've talked with soldiers back from Iraq that really hate the war and appreciated war protesters trying to bring them home quicker. I've also met soldiers who think George Bush is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and hate anybody protesting him. It's a mixed bag. As it turns out, humankind ia rich tapestry of emotion. The point is, we can't just isolate any behavior that might piss off some soldiers and ban it. Besides, from most people that I've talked with, having their friends shot or blown up on a daily basis decreased moral a lot quicker than any news from home. Most of them only used the internet or read American newspapers once or twice a month. There's not exactly a lot of liesure time to read the NYTimes with a cup of coffee.
So all in all, I support our troops. They have a shitty job, and it's being made harder by their leaders being rather inept in both putting them in this situation in the first place and then not fixing their errors when they were very clear and obvious. But I'll also support the protestors, because I like the Bil of Rights (even that wacky second ammendment). The smartest thing Bush can do is show the Iraqi people that democracy means everybody gets a voice, even if it camps out across the street and annoys you.
P.S. The protestors wanted to be arrested. They wanted to be on national TV breaking the anti-protesting law. Wifes and mothers of fallen soldiers being arrested for speaking their minds is golden footage from a PR standpoint. Plsu, they know that if they get 60 or 70 people arrested, there will be no more room in the county jail. Just wait until Cindy Sheehan arrives. Some serious shit is going to go down when she gets arrested. Talk about making martyrs out of molehills.

Honsetly, I think Sony pushing their format like that will probably backfire. They could have done that 5 years ago, because they had so much clout in the consumer electronics arena. That clout is gone. Samsung has pretty much beaten them in the last few rounds of consumer electronics, Toshiba is getting stronger, and American and European companies are taking up significant market share. If Sony pushes Blu-Ray this way to try to strong arm everybody else who is supporting HD-DVD, they're going to end up in a corner by themselves. If you need any evidence, look at UMDs. Sony wanted UMDs to be a popular format for other handheld devices like Palms and Blackberrys. But they refused to let anybody else have any say on speces and development, so nobody wanted to play ball. So now Sony sank a lot of money into a formt that isn't going to go down in cost anytime soon because the demand isn't there. And nobody wants to spend 20-30 bucks on a movie they probably already have, or can only watch on one device.
