Quote from John LennonDisplay MoreImagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

one additional question for you mino....is the problem that you aren't getting quality feedback on your stuff? are you showing what you've done to people who can help you improve? I've had a lot of help over the years from good people.

Mino I get the seriousness of this thread and it is a valid question.
First off, Fletch has a valid point but let me take it a step further. Consider that everything in your life happens for a reason, and even further, consider you are the cause of it all, good and bad whether you are aware of it or not.
My sense is that you are not currently happy with the way something is in your life, and you are looking back witih regret. I suggest you forgive yourself for whatever in your past you regret. Take it from me, I have made some serious FUBARS of bad choises in my life but I have forgiven myself. I can't take anything back, but I know now that I can move forward and make positive progress no matter what.
I know I am being a little vague and "new-agy" but there really is something to the notion of your attitude and perspective. Lot's of people have turned around careers, education performance, quality of relationships etc by self examining their attitudes.
As for mapping, try measuring it by how much you are enjoying it, not just by the results. If you are enjoying it and feeling good, that will be apparent in other areas of your life and maybe even catch the eye of the ladies.

Good lord I hate how the Americans/Canadians call it the "Group of 16" and "Group of 8"The BBC commentators were taking the piss out of you fall calling it that, its the "Last 16" and Quarter Finals.
Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken, but, common GL, who cares?
Cheers, mate.

Yeah...not just the quantity of cards, but the crappy quality of some of them. But I guess if you have 20 cards in one game it is a sign the ref lost control. Still, it was an exciting game. Good luck to Portugal in next round, though.
-
Round of 16 seems like it has all the powerhouse teams...curious how the TV ratings do in the US.

those are some impressive screens so far. keep it up!
hack:
that is some really good music.

Fill a swimming pool with coke, drop 20ft wide mentos in it. Run.
Keep in mind part of what makes the Coke rockets work is the pressure created by the bottle pushing all the force out of one small opening. The trick is, and I think Fletch was getting at, was how to maximize the pressure.
While a swimming pool of Coke and a few boxes of Mentos might create a crazy awesome uh...something...it might not be the 400 foot geyser we all want to see. I think you'd need to have some kind of enclosed container that forces all the pressure through a single opening.
edit...
QuoteWhen Coke and other beverages are produced, they are bottled with CO2 gas that is pushed into the bottle at a pressure about 3 times that of normal air. This heavy pressure helps to thousands of the tiny CO2 bubbles to dissolve in the Coke but the high pressure also keeps them very small. But when the bottle is opened and the pressure is released, these bubbles get a little larger and, as they escape to the surface, they provide the characteristic fizz or carbonation that most people find very appealing. As it turns out though, these bubbles would get much bigger, much quicker if not for the fact that the water molecules in Coke (which is mostly water) attract strongly to one another. The attractive forces between water molecules forms a tight web around each bubble and this makes it difficult for the bubble to expand. This attractive force, which is sometimes called "surface tension", is so strong that certain bugs (Waterstriders) can even walk on the surface of water without sinking.
When Mentos are added to the Coke, the Mentos begin to dissolve and the gelatin and gum arabic found in Mentos instantly act to break up the attractive forces between the water molecules. It is now easier for the bubbles to grow and thousands of tiny bubbles can instantly expand to hundreds of times their original size. Meanwhile, the rough surface of the Mentos provides many little nooks and cracks that help new bubbles to form. The combination of these two processes causes the carbonated gas to erupt from the bottle like a superheated geyser in Yellowstone Park. It is truly an amazing site.
And here is a dorky university video that is much less entertaining:

played it for about 45 minutes...haven't finished it, but was taking my time. so far it exceeds my expectations. i don't think it will be the best shooter of all time by any stretch, but damn, this is one compelling demo, even if everything has that shiny doom3 feel. i think I may have to get this one. I want to save Jenny and destory the aliens!

-
after talking with Zilla last night, it seems I am about twelve decades late to knowing about diet Coke and Mentos.
as an example, watch this all the way through:

anyone have any good methods for getting this to work or anything else creative around this? just curious.

Quote from Fletch
Kids today need to learn how to tackle somebody. I mean, punching somebody is all well and good, but a good dog tackle to the gut can do so much more damage. First, it gets the other guy on the ground, and, second, it winds them. Then you can beat the crap out of the little ponce for hitting your friends.
Fair point there...the maniac kid punched that guy with the beard in the face and it didn't really do anything....though i suppose the guy backed off in time. Hard to tell exactly.
Most of his punches weren't really that powerful. He hit that girl in the face and she moved back, but didn't look like she was hurt or crying. Even the maniac's kicks weren't really that powerful. But maybe he was just mentally screwed up and only sort of wanted to hurt people. He probably has some serious mental fubar-ocity.
The only real punch was by the guy at the end, but the announcer said that man was a former boxer so that doesn't surprise me, especially since the kid was smaller than him so the weight difference combined with a proper strike just clocked that kid.

maybe he thought: "hmm....i don't know this guy...so if I give him porn he'll want to help me with my mapping and modeling!"

-
ok it's working for me. had a problem with a shortcut, but fixed it so it's all good.
-
funny, but does bring up a good point. Think about all the surfaces in all the games that need texturing. For a developer trying to reign in costs and time, they some times have to resort to stock texture usage. But we've known about this for a while now so...
-
hmm...tried that...still getting the same errors.

i have ATI card...yep...getting it too. hope this is bugged with valve!
