This looks pretty cool. Will probably try it out a bit when time comes.

ah sweet james! that has a lot of potential imo.

    seems kinda overbloomish now

Cant wait to see more. Would be awesome with some river with a custom water shader or so and a nice wooden bridge over it.

    Quote from insta

Man I remember Opera as having photo-realistic graphics

    Bah.

For Norwegians that is still photo realistic.

  • 3d Studio vs Maya (for game development)

    • PhilipK
    • February 6, 2007 at 6:26 PM

    Never used Maya.

I know a lot of people who do tho. It seems nice but I think if you compare Maya and Max you will find a lot of different pro/cons with both and in the end I believe it's up to what you're most used to.

Then if you're not used to any already I couldn't say. Guess if either one you choose you will end up liking in the end

There's really no "I can only do this thing in Maya" there's usually just very different approaches on things.

  • So I gotta ask

Hmm I didn't quite understand. Perhaps you want to use decals (overlay textures)? I'm not really sure if I'm on the right track heh...

In dod they rely heavily on unique decals that are placed in the editor on the walls, grounds etc to "grunge" it all up. If you didn't mean that I believe I need some more explanation to understand

indeed. love that render. the materials are great!

  • Is there a good way to rescale textures...

    • PhilipK
    • January 31, 2007 at 4:29 PM

Well that was more of scaling down really.

But yeah you really can't scale up something to the double size with a good result without editing it quite some.

Also I've never been very fond of doing stuff in double res and then scale down as poopinmymouth says in the article I totally agree with that.

Of course in some more rare cases it might be good (if you made a pack for some newer game i.e. hl2 and want to port it to hl1 as well obviously )
