i think tomorrow im gonna go to the city and get some shots....on the 7 train you pass this like abandoned warehouse place and its pretty hot...its like..professional graffiti on the entire building

btw any suggestions or anything that i should change or i did wrong...this was my first time outside with a camera that wasnt disposable. im very happy with the results personally because some people complained of purple fringing and you can only see a TINY bit in a few pictures.....the image stablization is amazing too...half the pictures i took at from 5-10x and they were totally solid. i kind of expecteded close up things to suck horribly but im very happy with the results i got from the dirt/weed picture.

also if you want me to take pictures of something specifically in the city lemme know cause im prob just gonna go all over the place with my student metro card.....nothing but time to burrrnnnn

i have a kind of love/hate relationship with my job

i love it because i could basically go in to work at any time. hell if its like 3 pm and i all of a sudden get the urge to go in, its no problem. the guy i work for is a pretty laid back and knows that i know my stuff and can give him a hand with stuff. the HATE my job because the guy i work for refuses to come out of the 1990's. instead of letting me set up group policy and roaming profiles and stuff.....he wants to just put deep freeze (it basically makes it so when you restart the computer, it loads the stored image back, making all changes impossible) on all of the computers and then have us (me and the 2 guys i work with) install the software COMPUTER by COMPUTER. this would be fine if there werent about 120 computers. and thats just the labs.

another thing that drives me insane is that if im working on something and then he walks into the room he'll get all in your personal space and start asking you question after question after question. he has a good reason too....cause once school starts im not gonna be there to administer the servers 24/7....but i just wanna get my job done most of the time.

also we download tons of warez and play the movies on the projector the school owns (and its a nice one too). and since its about 120 computers x 40 gb....we'll never run out of space for nice quality movies.

i guess in the long run this will be the best job ill ever have, its kind of spoiling me...but then again maybe because im in such high demand things will always be this way ;D

i saw jurassic park like 3 times....first time in theaters when i was like 7.....every time i watch jurassic park with someone they NEVER remember the first 15 minutes of the movie where the guy gets eaten....its like its a different movie or some shit

i had a great time.

after we were seated these 2 guys came on the stage and played this 10 minute movie about NYC....that was ok. then they introduced mike bloomberg (nyc mayor) and the whole place went nuts with applause and screaming. i was in the second row. needless to say, super cool. he was up there for about 15 minutes explaining how democrats are trying to restrict freedom of speech by forcing their views on others with violent protest, etc, etc.

they hired this motivational speaker to come and show us how to talk to the people that we meet and stuff. if i remember correctly it was

(this was basically the bulk of the training)

1. greet - basically how to shake hands, maintain eye contact

2. discover - ask them about stuff

3. (something to do with creating coversation) - cant remember

4. maintain- even if the person is a bitch or is having a bad day, dont let it get you down

it was mostly all about personal relations. apparently most people see people from NYC as hardasses. (its true though....nyc lost the graffiti on the trains and the garbage/bums.....but everyone is still an asshole)

they took our picture for our id's and got our shirt size for our shirts. i havent recieved my job yet but its most likely going to be something with computers (since i put that as my preference and checked that i would be free almost all afternoons for the rest of august). the standard job though is more along the lines of greeting the actual delegates, accommodation...the chances of actually being on the madison square garden floor are pretty slim, but its definitely an experience. (oh yea, lots of hot manhattan republican chicks too, bst evr)

as a funny side note, while switching trains on my way home, some guy handed me a packet of papers....usually i just ignore them but i took it anyway. i opened it up and it says "shut it down" and the U is an upside down elephant (republican symbol thing). its basically all about how you can help disrupt the convention...if i have some free time after dinner ill scan it in, its pretty funny.

edit: oh and izuno, the security was NUTS....im pretty sure it was only cause the mayor was there though....not for us common folk

in about 15 minutes im leaving to get 2 and a half hours of training to help out at the RNC. should be pretty fun...the people that go to these things are usually nut balls and when i went to the orientation there were a couple of liberals that were giving us (the volunteers) shit.

im telling you...put in some of the trademark jurassic park features....the 2 big doors when you enter....voltage meters for the fence....go watch the movie right now and copy EVERYTHING interesting about the park

once again, its a good idea.....it might even have gameplay value if you do it right

remember, no one likes someone who cant perform in bed

it definitely is missing a little something....spice it up with some of the actual movie pieces instead of just trees and a fence
