After the 3rd or 4th ball was in the Brazilian net, my friends and me were just sitting in front of the TV in disbelief. My roommate wanted to pour shots for every German goal but he couldn't keep up. A legendary victory and we cheered. A lot. But the tears of the Brazilians leave a bitter aftertaste. Like Sprony said, a 4-0 or 3-0 would have sufficed. But this was a World Cup semi-final and not a friendly match. You cannot win a cup with just passion. You could see the pressure on this team in the Brazilian players eyes throughout the tournament. With Neymar and their captain not in the game they collapsed after the first goal, for the whole world to see.
ANYWAYZZZ GG GUYS!
Good luck to Argentina and the Dutch tonight. I don't care whose dreams we'll get to crush in the final!
Posting this on behalf of [email protected] -- look forward to hearing more from anyone who's interested in this work!
I think an FPS MOBA could be quite fun. Not sure if it's going to be this one but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt ![]()
All hail watermelonman!
I expected FRA vs GER to be more exciting, still glad Germany won, of course
Without Naymar and Silva, I think there is a chance for Germany to win the semi-final. But they will have to play their best and need a little luck. Not sure about the referee but the Brazilian crowd is like a 12th player! Should be an interesting match!
Looking forward to see ARG vs BEL tonight. Judging by both teams' performances in the tournament thus far, a pretty even match-up, if you ask me!
Quote from ThrikEarlier today I randomly had the most excruciating pain I've felt in like 20 years in my abdomen, I was seriously in the foetus position on the floor sweating like shit and having to really focus on my breathing — and I was still in agony for like an hour.
Considering that my dad was in hospital for near-identical symptoms this week I found this fucking weird. However unlike his gallstone-caused pain which requires intervention, mine passed after taking indigestion pills, painkillers, and basically curling up.
So yeah, I was kind of freaking out. It was so painful I wouldn't have even made it to a taxi to A&E, and I was reluctant to phone an ambulance for what could turn out to be gas.
I do think it might have been some kind of gas, that or some short-lived poisoning. But wow the pain. Fuck. Hope that never happens again.
Seconded.
If true, the title of this thread is more fitting than ever. Deep Silver = Koch Media. They picked up a bunch of THQ assets (Volition and the rights to Saints Row and Metro). I really hope that Crytek will make it and not have to let go of too much/too many. I can see why employees are angry and want to bring this situation into the open, but the leaks are ultimately hurting themselves by weakening Crytek's position in negotiations.
Quote from PuddyFemale gamers who compete in "gender-neutral" events would, by and large, be beaten into the dirt and largely disappear (or not qualify for high level games, Dota2 hasn't gotten a single female player at the highest levels I think). It's better to nurture female participation in separate events.
At one point, basically every 14 year old boy was a Counter Strike player in Sweden, so I dare say it was fairly mainstream at least here and probably in a few other places across the world. Those same boys were very immature towards female players (and outnumbered them 10 to 1), making it very unappealing to enter this space for young girls.
And also, I think boys in general have more of a competitive mindset and are, in general, more interested in digital violence, computers and technology in general.
Why not set up some ground rules on sportsmanship (re: immature behaviour) in eSports so girls can join/enjoy the game, too? I'm not denying that that there are different tendencies to like one type of game more than the other between genders. But if a girl likes e.g. Dota2 and she's good at it, not allowing her to compete against the top players simply because they have different genders seems ludicrous to me. It would be outright banning the possibility that a girl is equally or god forbid - better - skilled
in a male-dominated eSport. I'm going on a limb here and say that this is a possible scenario...even if their brains are so much smaller than ours

Quote from PuddyGuys, the esport scene is like 95% men, who are we kidding. Esports which have been "genderneutral" have been 99,9% men anyway. The little progress that has been made are in the esports where they actually divide into genders. Men have an advantage culturally in that it is accepted for them to nerd out etc.
But still, why keep them separate?
Goddamn Finnish extremists trying to impose Sharia law in a free country again ![]()
Once again 90 minutes and no goal. Come extra time and all hell breaks loose. I was about to go to bed after the 2nd Belgian goal but then the US had so many good chances to break even. They fought bravely but Belgium's victory is well-deservered I think.
So close, but no cigar, Switzerland...
Sadly I have to agree with SW. I was facepalming throughout the first 90 mins. I hope that Hummels will recover by Friday, Löw lets players play where they are used to play and everybody else will stop stumbling all over the place. Having said that Algeria played smart and fair. They played an excellent match.
"That doesn't look too hard, I bet I can do this myself."
If one of you ever sees me writing something aling these lines in this context then THAT is the moment one of you guys needs to step in before I hurt myself (or my neighbours). Godspeed and be safe, Corwin!
That red card in the Uruguay vs Italy match was the closest I've come to being convinced that the game has been fixed for quite a while. And as it turns out: it wasn't even the most controversial scene of the match
football
That was a good reality check for Germany. An exciting, balanced out match and a fair result. Let's see how Portugal and the US will do tonight!
Can't believe how close Iran was to a draw against Argentina...
Costa Rica at the top of the group. Called it.
-Said noone ever.
This thread reminds me of the days when we still had a "Politics" forum section. Ahh memories...
