Thursday a week ago, while on my way to see my girlfriend, she slipped during running club... shortly after I found out that there was some maintenance around London's railway so had to go a long way around taking me an hour longer in total. I shopped for her the day after and got told off because: I took too long, got a couple of alternatives that she wouldn't have bought etc. Sunday on my way back the thing came up again via text so I couldn't take it anymore and replied point by point, so the rest of the day we basically didn't messaged because she was offended.

Also new flatmates entered the house that weekend and were noisy with loud music at inappropriate hours; during the week my girlfriend protested and after banging on the wall at midnight, the soon to be discovered crazy bitch that moved in, entered her room (wasn't locked) at 2:30AM waking her up screaming how could she dare bang on the wall.

This friday I got to my gf (no cast anymore) and these couple came back past midnight and were noisy again. Went to shower at some insane hour and the shower wiring caught fire: the fire brigade came and assessed that most regulations weren't respected and said they would report the property come Monday. Again we were able to go to sleep between 4-5AM.

When the landlord's errand guy came Sunday to talk with these people, he had an argument with the crazy bitch --who even threw his phone on the floor when he gave it to her to talk to the landlord-- and mentioned that they had been annoying to the other tenants, so after he left the bitch came to scream at my girlfriend's door that if she was afraid of her, she would have been terrorized by her boyfriend who's a drug dealer and has been in prison, he kills people for enjoyement.

Since the landlord wasn't going to call the police (we are sure he doesn't pay taxes), we contacted a friend and moved half of the things out by the evening, in a fashion that reminded me of one of the chapters at the beginning of Grisham's The Rainmaker. At 6AM we woke up to drink and noticed texts from the poor third tenant, an Indian girl, she was saying there had been screams all night and the crazy bitch had been taken to the hospital on an ambulance.

We moved the remaining stuff Monday morning.

A new chapter for MapCore! I hail our new overlords and salute Thrik for all the contributions he has done thus far. But I hope it really won't be farewell, Thrik. For one, because your opinion and thoughts would be missed and secondly, the new MapCore site administration without your technical expertise and support I imagine to look something like this:

Despite having read the book before, I very much enjoyed the movie. The struggle for survivial didn't get across as much as in the book, but obviously they had to leave out a lot of the details. I do wonder though:

Let me start by saying that the Dublin treaty is bad and the (wealthy, Northern) states should feel bad for imposing it on the rest of the EU. The states at the Southern and Eastern borders shouldn't be left alone with the refugee problem, but on the other hand I find it outrageous that states like Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and so on refuse to take in any (Muslim) refugees. You can't be part of the EU and only take the good without the bad. You can't reap the benefits and then point to Germany and Sweden when it comes to taking in refugees. The EU won't fail because of migration. It wil fail due to a lack of solidarity between the member states (if we let it happen). Speaking of which: what's currently happening in Hungary is a disgrace. If you consider yourself a Christian, how about not treating the poor at your doorstep like dirt and live by actual Christian values instead? When people are being crammed into camps and don't get proper help, of course they will start to be aggressive. You make it sound like these people are aggressive by nature and are out to hurt us. Please be careful with such insinuations. Also stuff like "Don't trust the media." and referring to so-called "specialists" without naming any sources is dangerous. It's part of the reason why dumbwits think it's their responsibility to defend the motherland by setting refugee homes on fire.

Sorry, I tend to get carried away and get too emotional in discussions on this topic. There is no doubt, that an intake of refugees at this magnitude is going to be a challenge. All these people will need to be integrated. But it is also an opportunity. I encourage everyone to look at the cold, hard facts. In 2012 foreigners paid more taxes to the German state than they cost it in social benefits. The German population is getting older on average and is shrinking. Job sectors like handcraft are desperately looking for people to train.

Also, I cannot speak about Poland, but by German constitution, every human has a right to apply for asylum here. It doesn't mean that they can stay here. The German government is about to declare countries like the Balkan states to safe origin countries, which will make the chances to be granted asylum close to zero and send them back home. Syria is a hellhole and we do right to grant these people refuge. That's my opinion, anyway. Peace.
