    Quote from Minos

This isn't really true... We need a new generation really bad. This prolonged console cycle is what is hurting AAA very bad. There's just too many things wrong with it on the business, bureaucratic and technical front. A new console is going to do wonders. I cannot wait and we've stopped all focus on current gen because of it.

It's really just weeding out old theories and old mentalities of thinking... which is a great thing, yet sad thing at the same time for those caught in the crossfire.

Also, as far as THQ is concerned, i wonder if we're going to get anymore royalty checks lawl

Can't see how a new generation of more expensive consoles will help solve those issues at all? It's gonna take a while until the installed based reach current gen's level anyway, pair that with higher production costs and you got a recipe for disaster

What is hurting AAA games are AAA games themselves and stupid design/production decisions, not the hardware.

Aye, that's what I'm thinking. Making a game for the new consoles in the early years, even if they're cheaper and have a stronger focus on digital, then it's going to take a long time to reach the same install base you have from this gen, coupled with the costs rising a bit.

But who knows, if the new consoles become a free-to-play circus, it could very well shake up things even more.

Regarding THQ, then this situation also seems like fallout from that entire uDraw gamble that completely blew up in their face, manufacturing shitloads (millions I think) of hardware that simply didn't sell. It's kinda incredible that they've been able to keep going for this long. Hope Company of Heroes 2 is amazing and sells a ton.

Fucking hell, not surprising but very depressing indeed. The big games biz is bleeding so bad right now, and a new generation won't make it any better.

I really liked it (even if my ping was a bit awful). A few things tho:

    - Yeah, middle needs some additional cover.

    - The opening with the container door learning towards the street lamp was really irritating navigating through, maybe make it just a tad wider or ditch the street lamp (or whatever it is, metal wire holding pole thingy )

    - We probably weren't enough for it to really start being used, but the sides inside the train depots felt unnecessarily large.

It's good tho, I really like that the actual CP makes you feel super exposed, yet you still have sort of half protection from the metal structure of the bridge.

Looks pretty cool but I agree, it's too bad it's got Tom Cruise in it, can't take him seriously.

I'm surprised any of you put any value into the VGAs. For me they've always been about new trailers.

I think Puddy & Devajo's map has some good areas and ideas, but overall it's just way way too big. Condense everything down to it's essence, get the bomb points closer to each other. Some of the areas definitely have potential, like the area just above A, had some pretty cool firefights there, with the low walls and the stair in the middle. Also quite liked the area with the bridge leading to the other side, but it also felt perhaps a tad too busy with the stair going up. You got some pretty cool ideas, but like it was mentioned, there's just way too much meaningless space in between the actual meat.

Siege was a huge improvement over the last time, love what you did with the sewers. Also cutting the shortcut between the stairs up and the other entrance to the warehouse makes it a lot easier to read. Feels very different from the old siege, but in a good way. I remember that mainly for the firefights in the parking lot and people camping the rooms with the hostages, but I guess that's also down to how we played it/how CS:GO generally plays.

Yeah, some of the worst use of AO I've seen to date. I wonder if it's so heavy to make the vegetation look better, but everytime you got a cutscene it looks horrendous, pretty much looks like characters are cell shaded. One of the reasons why I'd prefer playing it on PC, then you can just turn that shit off.

Really loving it, it totally has the Skyrim effect on me, I end up being sidetracked by something and end up spending hours exploring random stuff. Also for once crafting doesn't feel like a shitty afterthought, even if it does feel a bit gamey. Like Rick said, it encourages exploration and going back to previous areas.

BTW, the disguise system/attention gain is being heavily tweaked in the next patch, for Hard, Expert and Purist difficulties. Makes it a lot more forgiving (and easier I guess), but IMO also a lot more fun.
