Quite liking this so far, looks absolutely gorgeous and like the old games then it definitely makes you feel like a complete badass. The story and character motivations are pretty poorly executed, but so far then it doesn't really spend that much time on that anyway. Kinda has the same problem the old inFamous games had with the morality choices being as binary as they could possibly be, but in the end then it's mostly about what branch of powers you get rather than having any emotional impact of any kind.

Anyway, definitely the most "next-gen" looking game I've seen on these new consoles to date, both in terms of visuals but also just how much crap goes on at times.

Finished the main mission earlier today, it is pretty short but really good. It's great to play an MGS game with mechanics that aren't completely shite (Well, MGS4 was probably the first MGS game that didn't feel super awkward, but still). Love the way the character controls and feels when you're changing stances and sneaking around. The control default control scheme is still a bit odd tho, plus it looks great running at 60fps on PS4.

Way better than I expected, plus there's plenty of alternative missions that seem really cool, playing one that's taking place during daytime now. Might be a lot to pay for a relatively short experience, but so far I'd say it was worth it, and I didn't even finish any of the alternative missions.

You rock Sprony! If they don't jump at the chance to keep you with that kind of positive and constructive attitude then they don't deserve you!

    Good luck~~

Aye, dat building tool was the most impressive part of that entire video to me. If you're gonna build a huge city and quickly mockup and iterate on it, that's what you'd want. Then hopefully have the option to easily export that out to add in unique geometry in the cases where you want a more custom look.

And yeah, it's probably not going to look quite this sharp when it finally ships, but considering that it's supposedly not coming out until late next year at the earliest, then it's gonna be 2 years into the lifetime of the consoles and it'll likely look a great deal better than all this launch window stuff we're seeing now.

Plus no pre-gen shit will help.

  • Buying a house and the games industry.

I bought my apartment back in early 2008 (yes, not the best timing ever, but I needed it), and back then it seemed like a pretty good decision, mainly because I didn't even consider the idea of leaving my job at the time, plus like you said then renting ends up feeling like you're pissing your money away in the long run.

However since then I've pretty drastically changed my perspective on this, and if it was today I'd never have bought it. In this industry, unless you live in an extremely active game dev community, renting seems like the way to go. Right now I feel very bound by it, if I didn't have the apartment I'd probably be long gone by now. With the prices slowly going up then I'm definitely considering selling it, even if it's at a loss, just to get out of this so I can get a job somewhere else.

I know that I could rent it out, but I honestly don't wanna get into that kinda shit. I'd rather sell it a perhaps lose some a bunch of money on it, but then be free.

It might be a stance that'll change later on, I'm pretty sure it will, but right now I'd rather be free to take jobs anywhere in the world rather than being limited to Denmark.

Hehe yeah, been waiting/hoping for this announcement for a while (supposedly it was going to be revealed back in August/September). I love the fact that VR is getting a resurgence, and tho the Oculus Rift is really neat and fun to goof around with, then I'm more excited about the prospect of Sony pursuing this, with their hardware and software capabilities. I am slightly concerned about the 1080p displays tho, I've only tried the 720p Oculus Rift, but the grid outlining the pixels severely hampers it (or gives it a cool 80's retro feel depending on who you ask), and I reckon you need 2k displays to really get rid of the grid.

Are you working on any of the games they've announced so far James? (diving game and sword fighting games was it?). I think there's a huge potential for exploration games or more slow paced stuff (fast paced shooters I'm still not entirely convinced of, based on the Rift at least).

Anyway, really exciting, rumours are popping up that MS are working on some VR stuff of their own, so if VR is the new motion controls then I say bring it on!

Loving the C.A.R SMG. Excellent with the counterweight attachment and the Run N' Gun perk, just storming around and fucking shit up, plus it can actually do some pretty decent work on long range with a little bit of patience, it's pretty much the only kit I play with in Hardpoint. At least to me it feels like the only real alternative to the R-101C (tho the G2A4 rifle is pretty nice too). After the beta I still haven't tried the Smart Pistol once, I suck at getting the lock on people and always just end up using it in aimed mode which kiiiinda eliminates its purpose.

Well that's the thing, it doesn't feel like I'm doing especially well, MVP here and there but usually it's just the Top 3. Anyway, it isn't as much a complaint as an observation.

Played it some 4-5 hours yesterday, great game, really liking most of the maps. Do wish my frame rate was a bit better tho

One thing that I do find a bit odd so far is how fast the player progression is. In those 4-5 hours yesterday, I've reached level 34 and I'm unlocking new stuff so fast that I almost can't keep up with trying it out in each match, and if the max level is 50 then it feels like I'll reach that way faster than I'd expect from your usual shooter player progression.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, I just didn't expect it to go quite this fast, though I guess it also further incentivises prestiging once you level cap.

The finale was pretty good, but considering the thoughts that the mid season episodes started evoking then it fell perhaps a bit short. But I'd also say that it's more about the journey rather than the destination, in terms of story telling at least.

Anyway, great show, one of the best in ages. Going to be interesting to see what they do with the new season/cast

Started watching The Americans, a show taking place in the 80s about two KGB spies living as married couple with kids in America, and I've pretty much blown through all of the first season in a few days and waiting for the next episode of season 2. Good stuff so far~~
