The red lighting around the tube, and the tube area in general looks like it could use some work. The other area looks pretty good.
I donno, I just think theres too much of the red lights tbh, but I think its more a matter of toning them down.
Allround pretty good so far
Nein~
Some of the other IO folks r going there though~
Dont know if Ive said it before marque_pierre, but YOU RAWK!!1~
Quote from FrieChampMaybe it just looks odd on the few pics you posted and more natural in game, also I agree that it sets the looks apart from other c17 themed levels and I'm not saying you should remove it, just change it a little. The kiosk is fine, but why would someone build a kiosk in a two storeys structure when there is nothing in the first storey agahdahfs I don't know, the thing looks artificial, all I'm saying
A cafe with a nice terrace, chairs, tables, a few trees would be cool by the way.
Thats a great idea, gonna try fiddling a bit with it
Quote from skdrthat building might "work" there if it stands on a sidewalked ground... now it looks like its just "planted" there for no reason.
Actually its already up on a sidewalk, but I know what you mean, ill try adding some stuff around its base
Quote from FrieChampI can see why you have this structure in the middle, with all the pillars, good ol' mazz0l 2 stories vertical action and I'm sure it enhances the gameplay, but it just...doesn't look right, on the last pic it looks like you made a square and then placed in the middle some kind of 2 storey "thing". I just don't buy it. Keep the structure but change it into something more realistic looking, it doesn't fit the otherwise very feasible urban theme. Make it a bridge which actually connects to something, or add some shops on top and below, or a railroad or you convert it into the building but keep the stories with big windows... Maybe you can also get hold of some better looking pillars. Rest looks beautiful
Well, thing is that its meant to be this kiosk/cafe, placed up there to so that people go enjoy the view

Its far out, I know, when everything else looks so normal it will stand out, and it is purely for gameplay matters that it is there. The first draft of the area also had the stairs going up, but without the structure above it, and it looked so utterly dull. Ever since I added that structure the map has gotten a style of its own in my opinion, and I therefore do not intend on deleting it at this point. To be honest then Im quite surprised that so many hate it.
Also regarding its rather lowpoly appearance, then its because the map is getting kinda heavy as it is. When I did the structure I hadnt even compiled it once, and thus didnt even have any idea of how it was gonna run. At this point I'll probably have to change most of the area if I want some round pillars and more complex architecture on it.
I just think Im on a different page than you guys, or you got a different impression that I wanted to send. I see this almost as a Quake 3 DM map, instead of something realistic, although Im obviously aiming for realism with the visuals. But I'll spare you from adding jumppads ![]()

No more pics until Ive finished the other big area

lookin good
whoa, looks sweet
Looks great, really like the desaturated bright look
One thing though (and keep in mind that this is without having played the map). It looks VERY similar all round, and especially with this kinda colour choice it would be pretty neat if you had some areas that really stood out. I dont mean that you should put in some flickering purple and green light, but variation in lighting is usually a good guide to making people learn maps faster. But as I said i havent even played it, and regardless then it looks great.
Quote from ReNoNot too sure about the odd building in the centre of the new shot. Looks a bit messy, sporadic, and just not too believable in my opinion.
Indeed, and its on purpose.
At first I went for a very realistic looking city, but as soon as I had done the area central stuff seen on the first pic then I just realized that it wasnt gonna play the way I wanted it to. So this map is gonna have some strange stuff going on at times. Its mixing realistic architecture with crazy deathmatch designs.
I really like it though, regardless of it standing out.
The geometry does not match the texture, and it is stretched in the ingraved part.
Apart from that I am most impressed.
New day, new pic

grats chrisl~~~
unreal engine 3?!?
!
looks fckn awesome~lubbar eet
I like the idea, but the map needs some work, my initial suggestion is to use some more textures to give it some variation. Right now it doesnt really stand out with all the red wood :G
Had the idea about making a saw mill map a while ago, could be pretty neat if you could have some conveyor belts with logs on that would move you around and provide cover.
Anyway, never got around to it cuz of all the wood ![]()
