Just finished it, the last level was kinda frustrating but apart from that I totally loved it. Definitely one of the best games this year, even if it isn't doing anything especially new~

Hah, I run Quake 4 on high and F.E.A.R. on medium at 1024.. You've got to consider the scale of GTA4 anyway, it's huge and GTA was always a little cartoonish anyhow...
QFT....the last bit

Don't get me wrong when I say it looks kinda meh I'm thinking in average gfx standards on consoles today, I think its fucking insane considering the scale of what they're doing. The only game that comes close to having this kind of impressive scale is Assassins Creed, and there it still kinda has a slight copy/paste feel to it
Mmmmm soooo cant wait~~

Aye this trailer was slightly underwhelming, but I guess I was also dumb enough to expect something insanely extraordinary after they had a trailer about this trailer (plus the cover
).Anyway, yeah, graphics are kinda meh perhaps, but again (And I've used this argument since the dawn of time), its all about the scale of what they're doing. To this day I still find San Andreas to be one of the most impressive games made, based on the scale of the world.
Also, Nico looks kinda weird in some of the shots, like his hair has been slightly shaved. Also his face is also a bit different, hmmm...!

Oh yeah I'm pretty sure that scene is still there, I was referring to its lack in the trailer (For obvious reasons
) -
Got it today and been playing the entire evening and it just went by in no time. It might be linear and the jungle stuff might not be up to Crysis' par, but damn its in just having so much fun with this. Shooting is pretty awesome (Even though I didn't like it that much in the demo, it gets a lot better the more you play it), and the platform'ish stuff feels very linear, yet they put in enough twists and big cinematic moments to make it feel like a movie. Good stuff. Plus I actually kinda like the characters, Drake isn't as generic and annoying as I had feared.
Best exclusive PS3 game so far, no question (Although that doesn't say a lot ;D)
Just hope it isn't too short D:

Looks pretty damn sweet! Even with the lack of "guy getting torn to pieces by mounted machine gun on truck" scene

I just realized the irony of the thread title now

Oh and if it wasn't bad already, it just got worse.

Fuck I'm tired of Eidos. The brilliant part is that the quotes are from previews, and adding the stars made no sense at all, guess it was to enhance the "movielike" image.
What a fucking mess...

I finished it in coop yesterday, enjoyed it start to finish. I must say though, that Havana and afterwards I wasn't quite so keen on. I loved the crime vibe the game had going, with business suits and so on, but Havana onwards went a bit too military. Still fun to play, in places actually more so, it just lost some of it's identity. I'd also have liked the fights against The7 members to have been more significant. It was pretty much only the final two that felt like a significant moments - the others I only really knew I'd killed because the revenge achievements popped up.
The endings are both pretty disappointing. I quite liked the fact they are both tragic endings, it's a brave move I've not seen done before, but I didn't like the implementation. Really short cut scenes and neither felt like a good payoff for the game. When you rescue Shelley, he runs off and dies. I think it's a nice move killing the daughter, but you could at least have got Shelley out I reckon. And if you take the chopper, why the hell don't you take Lynch?! He was stood right next to me, then I chose the chopper and he's suddenly back down at the plane saying "I fucking knew it...". Another minor annoyance is Lynch changing his opinion. All through the car chase/plane level he's saying "we've got to rescue them!", then you go to do it and he starts whining at you for not taking the chopper.
But despite all the niggles I had with the game, I still really enjoyed playing through it. I'll definitely finish it off in single player as well at some point.
EDIT: Something I meant to mention is that, on the 360 version at least, the initial control sensitivities are horrible. I put aim acceleration right up and increased the aim/turn speeds, and it became much easier to play. I recommend you try tweaking these yourself, as watching that video review made it look like he hadn't bothered.
I agree. The best level of the game is the Tokyo boardroom, once you reach that the game peaks, and after that the game goes slightly down in quality from there on out.
Also the endings had been changed so much in the development that I actually had no idea how they ended up in the final game, was pretty disappointed when I finally got to see them both.

Oh damn, I've heard this rumor from various management people at IO the last couple of days, but I thought it sounded too crazy to be true. This isn't good at all, at least if the K&L review is the main reason. In fact I'd say that I'm a bit ashamed to be working under a parent company that has put these kind of things into motion. It's pretty serious if advertisers have this kinda power of the reviewers, pretty sad.
However, I do agree that Jeff's review did feel very angry, especially the video review. Although I'm in no way saying that K&L is a perfect game, and that its metascore probably is somewhat fair, then it felt like he was ONLY hitting on the worst bits of the game, and totally ignoring most of its good parts.
Guess we'll have to wait for the details :G

Okay then, I think Tomb Raider Legend was good

I thought that was the general opinion amongst people that they actually managed to turn the worst piece of shite worn out franchise on the planet (after Angel of Darkness) around and make a pretty decent game.
Haven't tried the new one yet, been thinking about getting it for the PSP tho

Anyway, Deus Ex!
-
Aye, would be so awesome if they actually got Deus Ex back on track but its gonna be hard. Problem is that I just want the exact same game as the first game, just with better graphics, but thats not gonna happen.
It all comes down to how good they can make a console version of it, make it more open ended and have lots of interesting choices, and get the vibe of the first game across.
Eidos actually managed to get Tomb Raider back on track, they might just be able to do it again.

Rambohulk is not near as fun as fy_suicidebomber when you set sv_Gravity to 400 or something (so the CTs can also blow up). It gets totally wild.
hmmmhmmmm COASTRECON!
