I love Crackdown, but in a lot of ways I'd say that I like this more. It doesn't have that satisfying orb hum, but it the traversal just feels so much more satisfying when you really get the hang of it, where as Crackdown felt a bit rough even back then.

FPS mode, pretty cool~~donno how much I'll end using it tho

Yeah, got it as well for PS4. Really in the mood for something like COD right now, good dumb shooter action, probably helps that I skipped Ghosts and that this is getting pretty good reviews~~

Finished it earlier today and I've been playing it somewhat intensely over the weekend, really awesome game. The humour falls somewhat flat for me most of the time, but I do like it's campy and wacky style, and besides it just serves to make the things you do while playing it feel strangely natural.
It really starts out slow, but after a few hours (and some crucial movement unlocks) then it becomes absolutely amazing to traverse through the city, chaining grinds, bounces and wall runs all over the player (all while shooting bad guys at the same time). It really feels like the perfect blend of Crackdown and Jet Set Radio, in that it controls way smoother and better than either of those. It also just looks absolutely gorgeous, it's so great to play something that isn't afraid to be incredibly colourful, especially after playing Alien and SoM prior to this.
Anyway, starting to feel really happy that I bought an Xbox One about a month back, this is probably my favourite game this year after Shadow of Mordor.

Quote from blackdog
I was reading probably no sequel because it sold only 350k. Is that possible, that little?

http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=a…s=0&results=200
It's not that VGchartz is a 100% accurate, but usually they seem to be in the rough ballpark, and those seem like some pretty dire sales a month after release for a production of this size (I'd guess it's at least 1 mil to break even). So, yeah, wouldn't surprise me if a sequel is off the table based on this. I really hope not tho, like I've said previously then there's enormous potential in Isolation for making a much better sequel.

Well, the precise quote is that it won't have the same depth as on PC and current gen consoles
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/one-o…3/1100-6417861/
Quote"To break it down, some of the stuff we're pretty confident will still be very similar on current gen: the core mechanics, like combat, stealth, ranged and movements; the basic control and gameplay, that should all be really solid," he added. "What it won't have is the same level of depth and variety and simulation within the 'Nemesis system'."
So I guess there will be some Nemesis system, just not the one found on the newer platforms (probably all scripted, as opposed to the emergent awesomeness found on other platforms).

If it's your first go at the series then I'd go with Civ 5, it's not that BE is super hardcore or anything, but I'd reckon that Civ 5 is more beginner friendly.
-
Yeah, it's pretty damn intimidating at first, but you just gotta power through it
The tech web does feel like what it'd be like to play one of the regular Civ games for the first time for a person that had no knowledge of history either
They probably could've worked on making a bit more user friendly. Though there are filters to help highlight certain tech, and there are advisor recommendations, then I doubt anyone will load it up for the first time and not be fairly confused by it. -
Loving this game~~~wasn't feeling it when I started playing it Friday evening tho, but after restarting my game Saturday morning (and then spending a following straight 14 hours playing it) then it really clicked.
It's definitely more Civ, but there's still a fair amount of changes and I really like most of the ones they've made, streamlining and adding stuff in clever places, such greatly simplifying and encouraging trade, limiting the number of unit types and adding XCOM like unit upgrade choices via affinity upgrades where it's actually difficult to pick one over the other. The miasma can be pretty damn annoying at first, but it does add an interesting additional layer of complexity, both in terms of combat and where to expand your colony. The tech web is incredibly confusing at first (I spent like 15 minutes just reading up on everything when I first started it up
), but it also feels like the kind of thing where you'll make a few mistakes on your first playthrough, and now after 20 hours I feel much more clear on which route to go depending on my overall strategy. Also looks and sounds fantastic (though I'd almost say that the score is too epic sometimes
). Anyway, game fucking rocks! -
Finally finished it, it's not a bad game but I find it pretty damn hard to love it. The peak of the entire game is still the medical facility, which only makes me wish that the game had been perhaps 4-5 of those kinds of moments and experiences with some traversal, exploration and minor human/android encounters to bind it together. I can't help but keep hitting on this over again and again, but to me it feels like they've got most of the building blocks in place to make the perfect Alien game, but stretched themselves thin and just didn't manage to fit it together in an elegant and seamless way, and to use the cliché then they went for quantity over quality. It's still the best Alien game ever, but it could've been so much better.

Sequels for Red Dead Redemption, Mario Galaxy and No One Lives Forever, pls~~~

Been playing Desert Golfing on iOS daily for the last month or so, really digging it.

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.I know it looks awfully basic and somewhat unimaginative, but there's a surprising amount of depth in the way it plays and controls, plus it works brilliantly for both quick <1 minute sessions and to play for like 30 minutes. Then there's also a bunch of surprises scattered around way into the game, and there's a lot of levels (donno if it just keeps going endlessly, but it supposedly flats out at around hole 3000).

Reminds me of Peri's shooter, only not as cool

It feels like I'm pretty close to the end
Quoteat the infested Reactor core
, but it keeps going on every time I think it's winding down, so at this point it's hard to say.
I think playing it in fairly short sessions (just under an hour or close to) is making for a much more enjoyable experience than what I'm hearing from others, however I really have very mixed feelings about this game as a whole. On one hand then it's got some of the most amazing and emergent horror moments I've ever seen in a game and the entire presentation is almost flawless, but like most stealth and horror games then their impact quickly fades when failure and repetition kick in, plus it feels severely padded for length.
By far the best part of the game so far has still been the Medical Facility encounter, but the bit leading up to that is on paper pretty cleverly paced, but in execution it is stretched absolutely thin, and while I'd say I have much more patience and give games more chance than anyone I know, then Isolation really tried my patience in it's first 3 hours. It is definitely is the right choice to push the moment when you're finally first introduced to the xenomorph, but it's just done to such an extent that when it finally happened it almost felt a bit anti-climatic for me, even if the encounter itself is pretty brilliantly executed.
Anyway, pretty much everything after that up until where I'm at has had a couple of terrific and memorable moments, but it most of it feels unnecessarily stretched for playtime, and I'd go as far as to say that removing 3/4 of all android/human encounters would make for a much better game IMO. Few of these have added anything but filler and frustration, and though I get that the story of Seegson as a failed android manufacturer is important to the overall story that they're trying to tell, then those encounters just always feel like the side dish. And I'm not saying remove everything that's a quiet moment with a narrative focus, it just feels like there's a bit too much fat on this and it would've served CA well if they'd been a lot more critical about what actually got into the game.
As for the trial and error nature of the stealth gameplay then that's the reason why I'm often playing in very short bursts, I had 2 evenings of playing the game for roughly 45 minutes each where I actually didn't progress to another save point at all, lols. I've felt pretty fucking dumb after attempting to sneak through an area and playing as it feels like it was intended, standing in the same locker for 5 minutes to wait for the right to move on, and then keep getting caught by the alien just towards the end after playing for 10-15 minutes, and then realizing that running through the same area is often the most effective way to progress.
Also, when it gives you a bunch of weapons it makes it feel much more comfortable and "enjoyable" for you playing the game, but in turn also makes it feel pretty dull. Pacing wise then it's nice to have that there to break the nonstop feeling of being nearly defenceless, but looking back now then it feels like most of the game has provided you with plenty of weapons, and it's probably at it's weakest when you play it like an action game. Maybe it's because I'm playing it on Normal, but after I got the flamethrower it just took out most of the tension in encounters with the alien and have kinda made it a bit awkward when it finally found me, with a few bursts scaring it off. I'm still playing it as a stealth game since it's a much better game that way, but it feels like a gaping hole in the design that there's so much flamethrower ammo that you can almost entirely hold back the alien.
Overall then I do like the game tho, I really appreciate that something like this with big budget exists and it's going to interesting to see how it plays out from now, but it's also a game where I'd love to have seen a much more tight and well considered take on it where there wasn't quite so much fat on it.
TL;DR: Game is way too long.

Ugh, I was waiting for some twist in that trailer where they flipped it around with it just being some kind of joke but, yeah, guess not.
