  • The Emotional cost of bad reviews

Pffft, Kane & Lynch got horrible reviews, and that was something that I worked on for almost 3 years, and you don't see anyone from IO going around and whining like this. I guess the comparison might be slightly off, given that K&L was a pretty terrible game and semi-deserved all the bad reviews, but it doesn't change the fact that lots of people spent lots of time on getting it out.

They need to grow the fuck up and realize that not everyone is gonna love what you do, fucking babies .

Plus I think Force Unleashed was fairly mediocre the whole way through

Don't waste your precious time on my "trolling" then, mighty mazy.

    Anyway

I post the car I like and I'm getting the piss taken? I say I don't get what everyone likes about the other car and I'm classed as trolling?

    Nice.

Hehe, fair enough dux, I just took most of your comments as attempts to get the kinda reactions you were getting ("ARRRGH YOUR OPINION IS WRONG AND MINE ISN'T!"), in my book that's kinda trollish.

Didn't really mean to call you out in that way, and I kinda did. Apologies. (Still think your taste in cars sucks tho )

    Aaaaanyway, I ordered this:

Heard nothing but good things about it really, looks pretty different and fresh.

I hate to reply on your trolling posts, but seriously? You think that's better looking than the Scirocco? I know Honda's are pretty reliable, and thats a great point, but in terms of looks that is something I'd figure a 70-80 year old would find exciting.

Now the new Civic, that's much more interesting in my opinion (Though still nowhere near as awesome as the Scirocco ).

    Oh no ~~

I don't know what to say. I've known him for almost the last 10 years, we got to the IRC channel around the same time, he always slightly wacky but a really all round cool guy. He would always contact me on MSN once every month or two, always wanted to know if things were alright, just a really nice guy, last I talked to him was just a week or two ago.

Once, many years ago, when I wasn't online on IRC for quite a while, he actually managed to get my brothers phone number and called him to make sure everything was alright with me. At the time I kinda thought it was a bit freaky, but after a while I figured that he just cared and wanted to make sure I was okay. In other words, was being a good friend.

I don't know what to say, first time this has happened to me, that someone I knew quite well online passed away.

Truly a sad day for the core

    RIP watah, you looney.

Yeah pretty cool trailer. I still think its stupid to call it Wolfenstein since it really doesn't look like it has anything to do with the older games (at least from what I've seen). Then again I guess it wouldn't be wise to start a new WW2 IP in this day and age.

I only just saw the first Crank a few weeks ago, totally expecting that I'd hate it, but it was actually pretty good. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but really good fun for what it is, a silly action movie. Also the fact that it very much has the feel of a game makes it kinda cooler.

What? I never said that I wasn't gonna have fun anymore. GTA IV is such a grotesquely detailed and deep game that I never think I'll stop enjoying, and this is just a way to experience that depth.

    Quote

Which leads me to Grand Theft Auto IV. After I ditched the points, the first thing I started doing was something that I’d wanted to do ever since GTA IV came out, but never felt I had the time or patience for; Shooting all 200 pigeons of the game. Now that might sound dull, and there’s an achievement tied to doing it so it might also sound like I was backtracking. But the real reason is that it’s just the best way of experiencing everything of this truly epic game has to offer, and I’m not talking running around and just shooting random people, but walking around, looking at all details and just soaking in the world. One day I walked from the far end of Broker to the whole other end of Alderney (The entire map of the game), and it felt good.

But think whatever you want, I dont care

PLEASE BE IN VENICE!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

    Uhmm.

Although I can understand why some people were put off by some of the repetitive tasks of the first AC, then it never really bothered me enough for it to drag the game down. However the thing that did make it a less compelling world to go back to or stay in, was that there were absolutely nothing to do apart from the missions and finding flags/templars. I really hope you're making the world of AC2 a place with more depth and things to explore, be it side missions or just things that makes it feel worthwhile for you to keep playing the game. Especially since AC1 had the most amazing atmosphere I'd seen in a game (until GTA IV), then it felt slightly sad that you had to replay the game to experience anything interesting afterward.

But like I said, if it is indeed Venice, which it seems like everything's pointing towards, then I am super fucking stoked for this game. I guess we'll have to wait until next week though

EDIT: Oh and regarding the Animus, then it made me like the world even more. Even if it is a shallow franchise propeller, then I felt it was done so well and cool in the first AC that I kinda bought into the entire thing even more, not too much unlike something like the DeLorean from BTTF

Hmmm yeah, definitely more of the same. The big with the windows that break was pretty cool [/spoiler rofl!], but as for the gameplay stuff then it does look kinda dull.

I always felt that Bioshock's greatest strength was the atmosphere, the mystery and sort of unexplored nature of Rapture, not its actual gameplay. And although I'm sure they'll be doing all kinds of new locations and stuff to spice it up then I really doubt that they can capture that feeling of mystery again.
