Ahhh, sounds really cool Reno. Always thought The Ship sounded like a super cool concept, but sadly never actually got around to try it.

A bit vague, but some info on the process of how Gearbox got involved.

I don't think so because Gearbox started working on Duke just last year...
They might already have had a deal in place at that point. The Duke Begins project could have been something they started with Take2, but my guess is that it got merged with Duke Forever once that blew up in 3D Realms' hands.

By the way, I guess this is what Randy hinted at a couple of years back

I want one of those paintings!

Balls of steel, Gearbox has them!
Hope this works out for you guys

Finished it yesterday as well. I love the vibe and atmosphere this game has, but the core gameplay left a lot to be desire in my opinion. That said, then I don't regret playing through it, more open world games in different time periods is definitely something we could use more of.

By the way, this game has the worst checkpointing/saving that I've seen in years. Have a 10 minute stretch of gameplay without any saves at all even if it seems to have plenty of situations that would be ideal for saving (Although it often says "Saving" in the upper right corner, which is a blatant lie), and then litter it with a few cheap deaths here and there. It's probably all great on PC since you can probably save where ever, but for a console game I simply find it unacceptable.
Anyway, nearing the end of the game.

Looking forward to it, can't believe there hasn't been a proper zombie TV series yet.

HAH! Some of this actually looks super cool. The entire thing with 1 bullet start, and then getting one more once you kill someone sounds like the perfect formula for adrenaline pumping fights. Also interesting that they're introducing a currency system as well as the XP system.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. Anyway, can imagine just playing the MP for the 1 bullet mode thing

Yeah it's definitely the tech that's impressive, hardly the creative direction they're taking this
.Also the virtual twin stick stuff just didn't work very well for me, but the point and click method was pretty cool. Honestly, if you're gonna do a first person game or something on the iPhone, the best way is still to make one virtual stick rotation and the other strafing and forward/backwards movement. Then you'd have to ditch looking up and down, but it worked extremely well with Wolf3D on the iPhone in my opinion.

Donno if I'm the only one that just saw the Apple keynote, but Epic Games showed off some completely insane 3D stuff running on an iPhone 4.

Can't find a video of it, but I just played it myself. Basically looks as good as any current gen console games, complete with shaders and all, and it runs super smoothly. As much as I loved the idTech 5 stuff running on iPhone 4, this just blew it completely out of the water. Insane what phones can do these days.
I'll post a video once I find one.
EDIT: Low quality, but there:

Like I already said Mino, fucking stunning work dude!

Just release it FFS, I'm holding out on replaying HL1 since I'd rather play through it like this.
Sucks that it got leaked though.

Haha, wtf =P. Us game developers, always so mature ;D.That's too bad about those sequences, would have been nice! It's cool that in the credits they listed your nicknames as well Warby, Zacker and Mazy...you were like the only ones with that priviledge it seems haha.
Mapper creds

Actually everybody calls me Mazy at IO, so it's actually become an actual real life nickname. I couldn't stop calling Warby "Soenke" when he was working here though, even he called me Mazy. Kinda weird, all that.

At the release party Friday
Regarding Lynch's mental state, then there were ideas for some really cool and insane levels at one point, but they didn't really fit the entire documentary/somebody filming them vibe of story telling.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. Well, I'm pretty sure IGN states that its not an average score, since some elements can weigh in more heavily than others.
Plus I'm sure that....Imagine Party Babiez....Babyz, is a fairly competent game as well

Got it in the mail today. Demo didn't impress at all, but I hope the full game has more to offer. I too have fond memories of the first Mafia, hopefully it'll get good once you get into the story.

Aye, donno if I said it here, but I think Stephen Merchant is great, I'm a fan of his writing and his role in Extras. But his voice just doesn't fit into the game, it feels pretty out of place to me. Hate to say it, but the placeholder voice was better D:

Yeah, it's pretty flipping sweet. Although Sonic 4 is on the right track gameplay wise, then the entire presentation leaves a lot to be desired. Would be pretty ace if they actually had somebody realize a game like that, that would genuinely create excitement rather than people just being happy that they're not doing another awful 3D one.
