I'm pretty sure that they would have to start the game from scratch rather than use content by 3D Realms?

I suspect Gearbox finishing DNF (with 3D Realms keeping an eye?) was part of an agreement to resolve the issues between 2K and 3D Realms

instead of fighting it out in court.

Can't wait for the reviews an even if its not that good, I probebly buy it anyway out of nostalgic feelings.

Ok that's pretty awesome. I hope they go the full distance and have a system to "judge" what you draw, with an achievement "Immaturity" or something tied to it.

Because you know lots of people are gonna draw a dick. I don't know why! It's some sort of mystery! But when you give an internet person the ability to draw on something they'll draw a dick, or a smiley face, and then do the other. I saw it so often when Alien Swarm came out as people realized you could doodle on the map.

I don't think so because Gearbox started working on Duke just last year...

They might already have had a deal in place at that point. The Duke Begins project could have been something they started with Take2, but my guess is that it got merged with Duke Forever once that blew up in 3D Realms' hands.

I don't know really. Triptych Games worked on Duke after 3D Realms exploded, Gearbox snagged the IP just last year.

I wonder what the gameplay is going to be like, perhaps more old-school as in Duke3d, Doom, etc.

People have worked on this thing for 12 years now. I think I can spare £30 or whatever to give this one a go!
