they're cool but seem a little loose for me. Like I get the general idea of what you're doing but you seem to be grabbing sorta random visuals from the carnival area and running with it.

The purple ferris wheel killer shows the most promise. For starters I'd toss the ferris wheel. It causes a bunch of odd problems for a sniper character and looks generally out of place. The loose idea I get is some carny went nuts and decided to become a killer or something. If it were mine I'd make him a carny who went crazy and went on a rampage. Instead of lollipops I'd have those prize stuffed animals and he'd leave one on every victim he takes out.

As for the bear, his strongest assett is the hat. The bottles and little girl on the stretcher are just weird, and not in a good way. The bear feels like a side character, which could work but would need to fit into the existing theme you've set up for youself.

Anyway those are my constructive comments.

    anyway those are my comments.

braveheart : awesome movie but by no means flawless. heavy handed voice outro ending? a few cheeseball montages. Other than that, awesome.

Schindler's List : Agree. But that movie HAD to be flawless to work on the level it did.

Raiders of the Lost Ark : Best Indiana Jones movie. But Temple of Doom is SO bad it actually makes Raiders worse (take notes mr lucas.)

flawless movies (imo) : road to perdition. fight club. leon the professional.

Yeah we need some love on the front page... I may give that some effort in teh coming months but my time is very narrow.

However, we are set up very well for growth. We could quadruple in size tomorrow and be fine.

As for people wanting us to stay our current size so it doesn't get too crowded. Don't worry about that sorta stuff. I'm aware problems like that theoretically could exist in the future. The plan at that point would be to sub divide the forums more to create smaller parts of the whole. This failed originally because we didn't have the man power. Now we're getting there.

Now if only we had the damn tshirts.

I thought it was almost entirely a crappy movie with only a few really good parts.

Come on! The dialogue was absolute drivel with people spewing it like sour milk all over your mothers drapes. It was just absolutly blah to me. Sure some of the visuals were cool but on the greater whole they were mostly just normal old black and white noir looking stuff.

Man you guys should check out Chinatown if you want noir.

    Atleast that movie's good.

the simpsons thing is two fold. the quality of the show has gone down so far who would want to stay. They keep getting raises because they don't want to do the show anymore and fox is willing to pay them whatever not to lose them.

the voice actors strike (SAG's anyway) was mostly unsuccessful. They got a pay hike from 200 an hour to 250 an hourl. That's all they really wanted, they just asked too much (ah the rules of haggling.) Basically they asked for a small percentage on the back end because they think their names draw people into the game (This isn't as insane as you may think in some cases. Think about how pissed it makes you when its a wanna be doing the voice of luke skywalker or something like that.) The SAG (dorian you mook) is a smaller union than the whole and is actually not very big in the game indusrty. There's actually two larger ones that mostly do voice work for Radio and TV. The whole of the game industry uses these fellows. Their rate is 150 an hour. They do not care about backend, they will never see backend. SAG has really only been involved recently and almost entirely for press releases.

    Imagine it this way.

Giovanni Rabisi was in a press release for Call of Duty saying they were a huge Hollywood game yadda yadda... he saw no back end on that game. He probably made 50,000 or so for his day of work. See what happened there? He made above scale. This is super common. If you want a hollywood voice, you pay for a hollywood voice. They are not the ones complaining. It's the guys below them that no one knows complaining to piggy back off the bigger guys in some thinly veiled effort to use fame to create a buck.

    The entire situation disenigrated.

As for the industry itself unionising. This is probably 5-10 years off. It's sorta goes without saying though. It just takes a while to set up. No surprise it will start at EA, and it will fail there. Round two will be the successful one. It won't affect you Dorian. Small independent developers can stay just that if their workers don't join the union. The same way independent film is non union for the most part (although that's starting to change.) Unions will be back at all the publishers for a long time before they are at the developers. Imagine how many people at EA don't actually create a game or touch content. The number is staggering. These people need job security because they are easily replaced. It's no suprise a union will happen.

Anyway, I'm not scared about any of this. I deal directly with voice actors all the time. They're a good bunch and don't complain about their pay.

So I just did a late night trip to Taco Bell for some munchables and was greated on the sign by this :

    [Blocked Image: http://www.mapcore.net/pics/mikey/wtfmate.jpg]

Now I'm not entirely sure exactly what THIS is, but near as I can tell its a tostada mexican pizza looking thing wrapped in a quesadilla and smothered in nacho cheese. It's called the crunchwrap extreme or something.

I'm munching on this satanic pinwheel as we speak and I felt the strong urge to post about this and research others experience with it. Seriously what the hell is this? It's like eating the firey remains of a taco bell truck that crashed into a velveeta bus.

    ARGH.

Everyone go to taco bell and try it.

    Definitly awesome.

Demon Batman was the SHIT (you'll know what i'm talking about when you see it.)

I sorta liked that the movie at times was shot just like a horror movie. From the perspectives of the bad guys. Batman just sorta leaps out of the darkness like a horror monster and grabs them. It's the first batman movie to really realize Batman is SCARY to the people he fights. So when people say dumb stuff like "I hear he flies" or crap... you know why.

    Bring on Superman and Wonderwoman!

why even have the argument that adding an extra rendering pass to each surface makes it look better???

Yes, congrats. If you add detail textures to your blurry (keyword) crap it will make it look less blurry, and render the surface and extra time.

There's many many many other things you can with those extra passes... like...

    spec map

    normal map

    displacement map

    decals

    projectors

    animated goatse
