Yeah it's a bitch. I'm getting blackout curtains but they're quite pricey for so much window and I need them for the bedroom too so living with the glare for a while.

Might as well continue the trend of romantic couple pictures.

Okay so I did some massive research on this matter a while back.

First, never buy "pc-speakers". They are usually a bad investment (both expensive AND subpar audio quality). Now, with those off the table you can select two approaches: regular hi-fi speakers or studio monitors. Hi-fi speakers are designed to provide "oomphy", enhanced sound while studio monitors are designed to give you accurate, neutral sound without modification.

As I tend to listen a lot to music I chose the studio monitor approach as I want to listen to my music as-is without "enhanced" sound. I bought a pair of Yamaha HS50M's but I was also considering some sort of Genelec speaker. These brands are the ones I recommend. So far I have managed without a woofer but I am considering getting one now. Bands like Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and The Kills sound fantastic even without a woofer as you get crisp, clean audio and the tracks generally don't have a lot of bass, so you're not missing anything really (by bass I don't mean bass guitar). But modern electro and stuff like that kind of requirrs a woofer to be enjoyed fully.

Without woofers the speakers are quite cheap, around 250 quid if I had to guess. But the woofer is an additional 450 or so. I can go into more detail if desired.

Some solid advice there, thank you! The ones you went with have terrific reviews so I shall put them at the top of my list when it comes to next payday, lol. I agree that I'd rather have a neutral speaker, as I can always use my sound card's equaliser if I want to deviate from that. I'll probably skip the woofer and see how I roll with just speakers initially.

blackdog, the place isn't that big lmao. It just happens to have a really cool position in the building so lots of light and balcony space. Here's a really lazy panorama for who asked:

Oh man that map is incredible. At first I was like, cool, someone's turned the map into an interactive one you can open on any device — could be useful if the same were done for GTA5. Then I tried street view and was like IGFJEUDIGVUDSFUGJBIRJFGHJRWSFJGRJFGFVBJDFGVDGFEDKGF

Haha to be honest I've forgotten a lot of things too, I've watched them all live so it's been some years now. That's good though because it means I can enjoy them all again on Blu-ray one day.

My colleagues always say two screens are better and I'm a dick for having only one but I honestly prefer one big one. I tend to maximise very few applications, everything else is in floaty windows in a mess. I dunno, works for me.

Good speakers Puddy? I'm yet to set up my desktop room yet, at the moment it, uh...

...anyway, I don't have any speakers and literally have no idea where to start with PC speakers. Recommend me plxxx.

    I'm picking up with

    [Blocked Image: http://images.buddytv.com/articles/Fringe-S5PosterMain.jpg]

that I left behind to enjoy in a speedrun. I wish I had the chance to watch more episodes back-to-back.

Unfortunately, after all this time, I'm failing to remember some bits of the story :/

    Anybody seen it?

In the first episodes I got the impression that they structured much alike a video-game with this "recovering the plan bits" thing... I thought: "I see what you are doing JJ, well played".

Now I've just watched ep #6 and... this is turning very much to The Matrix! [Blocked Image: http://forum.multiplayer.it/images/faccine/japu.gif]

I'd only complain that these Observers go down too easily, for all the power they are supposed to have.

And, by the way, John Noble is quite great, I couldn't stand his character very much, in the first seasons he was too much of the comic shoulder of the show, but now he's arguably the main character.

I'm really hoping/curious to see JJ working with Valve for real.

This sixth episode made me think how well "dream" sections are being made in the last years, Alan Wake DLCs and even more Batman's... the one in Arkham City literally dropped my jaw.

Yeah I was a big fan of Fringe. The way they transformed the show in the last few seasons was impressive, though I think the seasons that took place in the alternate universe and timeline were the best.

It's one of the few shows where I was totally happy with the ending, although some properly harsh shit happens in the last season (typical of Abrams). Also the main Observer villain introduced in the last season was excellent.

Overall one of my favourite ever shows, just a shame it took a couple of seasons to become totally unique and awesome. I still got hooked to the first season but you can tell they only really figured out what they truly wanted to do during the second — from that point on everything tied together nicely.

Seeing as the last rendition of this thread was some time ago I expect most people have vastly different rooms now, so let's see yo' gaming zonez.

I only just moved and put all this furniture up, so naturally in a few weeks the room will be covered in empty coke cans, kleenex tissues, etc.

Here's a twist I suspected but it's good to see confirmation: after a certain period of time the overlord can be overthrown.

    http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/…osity-molyneux/

Thus he has an incentive to not be a dick: he loses not only his power but also his royalties. Now that's what you call real consequences of dying in a game. I love Molyneux.

Haha that video was brilliant. I'm intrigued by this and will probably back it just because the setting interests me and it's Double Fine. Never really played turn-based games before so I might enjoy.

Also I just can't get enough of DF's art.

I'm not quite sure if that's saying that PSN sales are usually really shit, or very little of the money makes its way to the developer. Either way, the fact that they couldn't even keep a 30 person-ish studio open with the profits is pretty weak.

    Interesting article:

    http://www.edge-online.com/features/why-t…for-the-studio/

Turns out the Journey developers basically went under after the game was released due to their Sony contract reaching its end, shedding most staff and existing largely in name only. They've now started rebuilding themselves after finding a new backer but I think it shows nicely how fuckin' shit the industry can be that their reward for producing such universally acclaimed and beautiful games is a foot up the ass. I'm guessing the game wasn't particularly lucrative.
