Seems like they're handling things incredibly badly right now. All I've really heard about since launch is problems and lawsuits. :/

Continuing to play around and I've left a UK-based server running on 178.79.176.222.

If anyone wants to join it and mess around feel free, although I can't guarantee it won't vanish/crash because it looks like dedicated servers currently have memory leaks and shit. I'm mainly leaving it up to monitor what happens.

If anyone does join it, let me know if you have performance issues or shitty ping (not that I can even figure out how to view pings and such in-game).

It's actually hilarious how quickly I got completely overwhelmed to the point of running out of the game screaming last night. I was on my little ship thinking that this all seems quite straightforward, but the moment I beamed down onto a planet I was immediately ravaged by a mob of horrifying creatures. I ran like shit, only to end up stumbling into like three different types of flying/jumping fucks, so I legged it in the opposite direction with all of the aforementioned chasing me. I jumped into some cavern opening, but I was in too much of a panic to figure out how to use the light source that I so obviously needed and just went increasingly deep into a dark abyss until eventually I ended up in water and drowned.

This game definitely needs more work, but it's an interesting thing. I kind of think they should have gotten it more complete and refined before putting this out into the wild though, a lot of people are going to play this and get put off by its issues.

I'll wait and see about the music, but to be honest I don't think the first The Hobbit film really bowled me over musically as much as Lord of the Rings. It was good, though.

I think in some ways the LOTR soundtrack is Howard Shore's ultimate contribution to the world of classical music — his creative peak that'll be remembered for generations to come. So many incredible themes and styles in that soundtrack, all unique and highly memorable. When you listen to the extended edition soundtracks it's just mindblowing stuff that you can truly lose yourself in.

In comparison, all The Hobbit can really do is pay tribute to it by trying to match it with a few new themes while revisiting old ones.

Going to watch this today but can't decide if I should go with 2D like I did last time or bite the bullet and try IMAX HFR whatever-the-fuck.

I really like the look of this. I think it can be summed up as the 'end of the world' version of Groundhog Day, but I loved that film so what the hell. Same guy who directed The Bourne Identity so it at least stands a chance of not fitting into the 'epic sci-fi idea but shitty execution' genre, although you might have to just pretend Jumper doesn't exist...

That soundtrack really reminds me of the Berbils in ThunderCats, though:

This should be interesting. Having made myself an expert with Wikipedia, looks like this is directed by the guy who did the cinematography for basically every Christopher Nolan (who is producing) film. But can his clear expertise in his former role translate to putting together an incredible film? Shall soon find out!

The overall concept looks great, and I'm genuinely delighted to see Johnny Depp doing a more serious role as he has done in the past. It's easy to forget how good he can be in menacing/serious roles after years of seeing him in comic roles.

Haha, that one is really cool. I love the range of movement tricks, not to mention the vibe of the art — reminds me of Dizzy for some reason.
