Actual non-beta release of part one is today for those who haven't played the beta (that'd be me). Still probably not going to get time to play it for a little while, but I enjoyed the new trailer with bonus Ron Gilbert appearance:

Valve has perfected its physics technology to the point where with a flick of a switch that entire building can explode into 10,000,000,000 physics-enabled pieces, with every single particle of stone and dust reacting in real time to its neighbours, all running on a PlayStation 2.

Yeah, I've just never liked her inclusion really. Seems out of place in a show where basically everyone else dies except Bauer, although can you imagine the outrage if they do eventually kill her off?

I'm excited. I think a shorter format — at least for now — could be good, as it'll force them to avoid the padding and figure out what makes the series work. To an extent I did like the longer format of the previous seasons because by the end of it you were almost feeling as fatigued as Jack Bauer and it felt like you'd been truly involved with the crazy shit going on due to following it minute by minute, but some seasons did feel like they didn't really know what to do with all that time.

Fuck though, when 24 was good it was good. The only thing that's come close for me in recent years is Homeland, although I've still not watched past the first season of that. Highly recommended for 24 fans, though.

I actually loved season seven, and felt like that was exciting all the way through. It really felt great getting out of Los Angeles and mixing up the formula, and it looks like they'll be continuing that by setting this one in the UK(!!). It'll be really interesting to see how Bauer's unique approach fits in with our different approach to many things over here.

To be clear this is optional guys. I personally just find it easier if everyone knows my name so they're not all 'Who is this weirdo?' on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

Might get one of those myself. How long have you had it? I've bought two of the same kind of HDMI switch over the years and each one died after like a year, pissed me off.

The worst thing is I suspect the people actually doing the production are capable at what they do. This looks more like there are people in charge who either don't know what they're doing or just don't care and are pushing for things to be done at stupid speeds so the production team stops caring.

I mean I'm not out to make people feel bad, but let's be honest... this doesn't exactly look good, does it? Yet you can see the technical skill is probably there, it's just a lack of time/care being put into it like that god damn helicopter in the first trailer lol.

It'll sell well, people will take one look at the title and the carefully orchestrated bullshots and buy the shieeeeet out of it.
