But was it ambiguous about what type of grenades? Could they have not included concs for example?
Maybe just asking them would be best.

What exactly was it they said about grenades? I can't watch it at work.
I by no means want the grenades removed as they were such a big component of my play, but I wouldn't be too bothered if it were just the frags. Having class-specific grenades only would work well with the specialised nature of TF, and allow the likes of caltrops and concs to remain in.
I'm only basing my knowledge of the grenade removal on what Taylor said so I'm not sure if the video was ambiguous about this or not. ![]()
There was a post-release patch that brought back the much-needed environment effects, but I'm not sure how much it actually restored. That is, the GC version may have effects and whatnot that were infeasible to port properly. It doesn't seem as smooth as the GC version anyway, although that's probably because most of us would have played it on a non-HD CRT television that hid most of the flaws and just made it look like smooth beauty.
Edit: Assholed by Reno again!!
I'm quietly hoping they'll somehow retain conc jumping, even if not specifically with a conc grenade. The general concept of bounding around as a medic using skill was really cool and what basically made the class so loved by many people (infection was nice but not really that commonly used, mainly by new players).
That said, I'm sure Valve have spent more than enough time making TF2 a balanced and unique iteration in the Team Fortress line, and thus to expect TFC with different graphics is madness (the Spy being able to fully cloak like Solid Snake is an obvious example here
).
But yeah, TF2. Man. I really hope it is awesome and gets extremely popular like TFC did, as I've missed TF more than pretty much any series ever (I played it way too much to death to enjoy TFC anymore). The likes of CS:S are so uninspiring it really saddens me it's the only HL2 mod with a significant fanbase, with the exception of DOD:S which has like under a seventh of the players.
No grenades? Seems like an extremely strange decision, as the conc jumping was one of the more infamous aspects of TFC. Have we got proper clarification on this?
Rocket jumping is still in though at least. ![]()

Looks absolutely brilliant. Probably not as good as that trailer that came out for introducing the game to new players, but gameplay-wise this looks like it's hitting the TF gameplay superbly. I'm really, really looking forward to it.
Anyone got any idea what the debut maps will be? 2fort is there so we're all good for the most part (
) but that one at the end kind of resembled a map in TFC I've totally forgotten the name of but was quite fun.
There's been a bit of internets excitement recently based on a rumour that Blizzard said all their franchises would become MMOs. This has supposedly not only been denied, but they've also confirmed that they have no MMO game plans at all beyond future WoW expansions.
It could end up being a twist of the year and not being an RTS either. ![]()
Yeah, PS3 as far as I'm aware. Not sure about the 360.
Since high-end PCs at the moment can easily hit 360/PS3 standards I don't think there'll be any problems with PCs running it, and it's likely to look better on PC too.

Commandos 1 and its expansion pack were pretty difficult, but Commandos 2 took the absolute piss. Not only were the maps bewilderingly huge, but they were packed with enemies -- indoors and outdoors -- that were placed in the worst locations ever.
Incidentally, I decided to replay the Metal Gear Solid games recently and was amazed at how much it reminds me of Commandos when you play it in hard mode.
In normal mode it's a pretty good stealth game, but fuck me hell. I tried playing it on hard last week and it feels more like Commandos 3D; the enemies can see further, they can hear better, they do more damage, and it's just generally reminiscent of the "it takes an hour to get past two guys" gameplay of Commandos 2 where you watch them for ages to try and find the weak point.
If you like Commandos and never played MGS, get Twin Snakes (superior total remake of MGS1 for the GameCube). If you don't have a GameCube, get MGS3 (enhanced Subsistence edition) for the PS2 that is actually a prequel to MGS1 and thus makes total sense anyway, and is the most Commandos-like in the series thanks to its jungle/fortress/mountain action. ![]()

Clearly far too excessive for any of today's hardware, but providing them in such huge size and quality isn't really a bad thing. They're ideal for design use and in magazines as you can just use certain parts of them, cut them out for an article, etc. Also when printed such huge resolution will bring with it great clarity.
I doubt you'll hear any complaints about such sizes from people who actually work with these screenshots.
Just like Coca Cola is actually quite a shit drink when you think hard about it while drinking it, WoW is actually quite a shit game when you think hard about it while playing it.

The vast majority of people play World of Warcraft for the social networking aspect of it, an incredibly powerful force, and not the gameplay at all. This is kind of obvious when you think about it because not only is the gameplay dull, but it's also monotonous, uninspired, mundane and wholly fails to engage the play in any kind of meaningful action.
It is the size and variety of the game world that makes the social aspect so appealing and alluring, and not so much the artistic direction, epic world, etc. Games like Second Life have proven that being even remotely visually appealing is not a requirement as long as the size and variety is there.
If Blizzard can harness these same ingredients in its next game, it doesn't really matter what the game is as long as the theme sounds appealing to a lot of people. It's then guaranteed to be a success.
Let nobody argue with my opinion for it is correct in every single way. ![]()
I think some people respect Terminator 1 a lot for basically being one of the first movies in history to do what it did, which is totally respectable. However, I personally find Terminator 2 to be far more entertaining and just generally cool in every single way. A truly excellent film.
In all honesty though, both were superb.
I guess I just kind of zoned out from CoD as the wave of WW2 titles kicked into full swing (not just CoD). It got a bit much as although I've always enjoyed the theme, it's not something I want in every fucking big-budget game.
Fortunately the trend seems to be coming to a close now.
Wow, twist of the year. I saw something about it earlier but just dismissed it as another WW2 sequel, and said as much in #mapcore.
Guess I was wrong. ![]()
I sadly have absolutely no idea who he is, although his name reminds me of the Gorons from Zelda and so I like him.

Hahaha, I'm only in the Goron dungeon at the moment but I've heard many people mention the Cave of Ordeals bitterly. Not looking forward to that. ![]()
