    I think the most impressive part is quite simply that the entire thing was made in one month, and that it had to be fully tested and released at that point with no further modification. For a bunch of amateurs in university that's quite an accomplishment, especially considering just how much modification has gone on to make it look not even remotely similar to HL2.

    If you're downloading the mod and expecting a retail-ready game then you're obviously going to be disappointed; clearly they went for polish and stability over providing hours of hardcore fun. Has any amateur mod in history ever managed to do that on its first release?

    And hey, while we're at it, if you've ever looked at the task buttons on your taskbar and thought "Man, I wish I could drag and drop those into a new order", you're in luck. This tool lets you do that:

    Excellent for people like me on 1920x1200 who use Photoshop in a window that seems to choose the dimensions it opens in at random. Or perhaps you just like to be a control freak and want to make sure your Photoshop palette is always the width of someone's browser window.

    Man, can you never have a thread like this without some zealots coming in and flaunting Linux and OS X? There are countless reasons to stick with Windows, gaming and the professional workplace being two of them.

    Please don't go into threads like this throwing random "lol windows" comments around because most people are aware other operating systems exist (Amazing, I know!) but don't use them because it would be infeasible.

    Yeah, seriously hessi. I think you've completely misinterpreted the author's intentions there, because there's no way he was trying to make fun of whatever happened in Germany with this film.

    You are German though so I understand your closer ties to what happened there will be influencing your feelings somewhat. Would you have laughed if it was a similar video with George Bush, though? You might say you wouldn't, but I'm betting you wouldn't have treated it with the same dislike.

    They were probably trying to use a Flash player built into their site and didn't have the necessary resources to back up the inevitably massive loads. They should have either gotten clustered bandwidth from Amazon (you can get it for serving nothing but static files) or gone the torrent way, although this would have meant people would be forced into downloading it.

    Game sites always end up just as hammered and usually are to an extent 24/7 so that's not much of a solution, and YouTube has abysmal quality.

    How long were you running hdd health for Ginger? As far as I'm aware the idea is they run over prolonged periods of time so they can properly asses the drive by reading what it's doing while being used. If you downloaded it when it started clicking for a quick-hit analysis you're bound to run into disappointment as it's a piece of software -- it can't physically inspect the drive.

    Stop trolling leileilol. This is entirely subjective argument, and you know it. While you evidently didn't think much of HL2, doesn't the fact that it won countless high ratings, awards, and general support from fans suggest that perhaps not everyone thinks it's as bad as you do?

    What, do you think you're some kind of enlightened person who's the only one capable of seeing how bad the game is or something? Not everyone shares your opinion. The majority of people think HL2 is great. They disagree with you. Deal with it.

    That's why your arguments about SC2 are fairly irrelevant. Just because you personally don't want a sequel that's anything like its predecessor doesn't mean nobody else does, nor does it mean it's a bad game because it's fulfilling what a lot of people want -- more of the same, but updated and jigged around. This is why Command & Conquer remains popular. It's not changed that much in 12 years; it's definitely evolved on the gameplay front, but visually it remains very similar.

    It's extremely annoying to read your posts because one minute you're bitching like a pansy about Starcraft 2 being too similar to its predecessor (despite you having seen a very limited amount of its gameplay), yet in another thread you're whining because Team Fortress 2 isn't exactly the same as TFC or QWTF and dared to remove something like grenades.

    And then you go around saying how good Duke Nukem Forever will be, despite having seen exactly zero of the game's current build.

    It'd probably be a lot better for us all if you either stopped posting altogether or started putting some substance into your posts, because at the moment they amount to little more than rampant annoyance.
