You should be able to find a site that's suitable for answering such a question after looking through Web Creme for about a minute. For logos, see Logo Pond.

At least they didn't just take a small fine and then let him back out onto the streets after going on a mass murder throughout the whole city.

Just begging for a 3D skybox or something — looks like some buildings floating in the middle of nowhere. The lighting is nowhere near as dreamy as the inspiration either.

Not a bad stab I guess. Just could be so much more. Should have spent more time on it.

Worst part is that all these victims did wrong was fall in love with a nice person hiding underlying mental instability. It could truly happen to anyone.

    Someone posted this elsewhere earlier:

Adds to the creepiness factor somewhat. No matter who they are, seeing someone's internet shit as if they were still alive feels weird. She has all her birthday pictures and everything on the second page. The scumbag who killed her is in some of them smiling too.

    News article:

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... de01m.html

It's pretty mental that she knew about the gun and his possible intentions a week earlier — he'd pointed it at her and then at his own head, threatening to kill himself. Yet seemingly she was unable to do anything within the confines of the law to stop what happened (other than getting a restraining order, which she did).

Yeah, it's no more shocking for me — I read about loads of such deaths every month. Although I still think murder-suicides in particular are lame because often they're done because of relationships and shit and there's no real reason for it. Murdering your wife/kids/etc... ffs.

I mainly posted this because obviously as a games industry girl and one that handles E3 events and such at that, someone here might have met her. A few people on another forum I visit certainly have.

Melissa Batten, 36, a software development engineer in Microsoft's Xbox division, was murdered by her estranged husband, who then shot himself to death, earlier this week.

Batten, a Harvard-educated lawyer, was a Software Development Engineer in Test for Microsoft, supporting Rare on its 360 titles work. She had worked for Microsoft since 2002, earning credits in Halo 3 and Gears of War as an SDET. Earlier, as a lawyer, she had been a public defender for the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte, N.C.) Public Defender's Office. Her husband, Joseph Batten, was also 36. He had also worked for Microsoft but most recently worked for Wizards of the Coast, publisher of hobby games such as Magic: the Gathering. Melissa had obtained a restraining order against her husband on July 21. Another news story describes Joseph Batten as obsessive and verbally abusive, and when she learned he had obtained a handgun, she sought the protection order.

A very sad and pointless death, as with all murder-suicides. The news post has a video of her speaking at E3 about Banjo-Kazooie 3, just a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, I've never been keen on the way just about everyone's been towards her. She's just someone very passionate about games who happens to have good looks too. It's kind of pervy the way the media and gamers alike have jumped all over the latter. And then you read GameTrailers comments or something and it's all "She's ugly what an attention whore" and stuff like that just because she's doing a development diary like dozens of other (male) developers/etc have done in the past.

Shouldn't matter if the game is otherwise great. I'd quite like to see an iD game focused less on gore and more on bringing a rich world to life. The atmosphere in that trailer is awesome. Looks like there's more NPC/non-combat gameplay, and presumably more general exploration to do, which I like.

I'm fairly certain the producer thing is just a joke. We've already established the video is parodying the Jade Raymond Assassin's Creed Dev Diaries.

So is it a parody of a specific video with JR? I certainly didn't see the connection.

Did you have your sound off when you watched it? The woman is saying that she's the new producer for Saint's Row 2 (Jade was the Assassin's Creed producer), and the video is entitled 'Dev Diaries'.

Weird. I've seen it written as both Raymond and Redmond in various respectable places, but Raymond does indeed seem to be the correct one.

Wonder why so many sites/people got it wrong in the past (Thus making me get it wrong!!).

At risk of pointing out the obvious, for those that aren't aware it's a parody of Ubisoft's Jade Redmond.

It is probably a good idea, although I'm not keen on the idea of it being based around specific games.

One thing I have noticed increasingly is that people are for the most part thick when it comes to buying PCs. To a lot of people, the difference between two PCs is 'old' and 'new'. If someone can't run any games, they'll often just get the shiniest-looking new PC from PC World and pay hardly any attention to the specs at all (not that they'd understand them anyway). Often they're not getting a good deal at all, but because the shop says it's new they assume it's good for anything.

Pretty mental stuff. Hopefully everyone at MapCore will come out of it all OK if anyone is working under the Activision Blizzard umbrella.

Pretty crazy about Brutal Legend, too. Later reports are suggesting that Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend will be OK after all, but it's still pretty sucky for Double Fine who got raped publisher-wise with Psychonauts too (Microsoft dropped them towards the end of development, leaving them scrambling for a new publisher that ultimately wasn't able to distribute it as effectively).
