I really hope they didn't abandon all the cool-looking city, sea, and desert areas in favour of these generic industrial environments. ![]()

This epic bag of fail has been banned. Please let me know if any more appear, as while I'm planning on doing some forum work this/next month which will include bolstering the anti-spam defences as a whole, I can accelerate things if we're getting spammed to hell.

What about the expansion? Apparently it's really long and full of even more stuff to obsessively collect.

Looks really compelling. Clever how they segued from what seemed like some kind of documentary into the sci-fi stuff — didn't see that coming at all, being totally unfamiliar with it. Also it's Jackson so it has to be amazing.

From what I understand the Spanish flu would have killed its young victims regardless of diet, because ironically enough it was strong immune systems it affected the most due to causing an insane reaction where the immune system basically killed itself. Those of us in the western world with strong immune systems would probably be at the most risk of all to something like the Spanish flu.
It was pretty much a crazily deadly flu, which is why if there's any chance of something similar reappearing (nothing has since the 1910s AFAIK) we should very much be scared shitless and take whatever precautions possible to prevent it.
The whole frenzy about the swine flu is because it has the potential to mutate into a Spanish flu-esque virus, right? I've not been following it too closely.

Awesome IMO.

Looks to be yet another game by the legendary Tim Schafer that will have superb humour, writing, characters, etc.

There is no vaccination to bird flu. It was because of extremely proactive prevention measures that a pandemic was prevented, similarly to what's happening here. The incredibly mutational nature of flu makes any kind of vaccine temporary at best, which is why even regular flu shots need to be taken regularly — and still aren't guaranteed to work.
I do agree that the media tends to go OTT with these things, but it doesn't hurt to spread awareness and to spur governments/etc into action. I'd rather than they put too much spotlight on it rather than something like bird flu hit the major epicentres of countries and tally up immeasurable body counts.

That's not right. The original Halo had both health and a recharging shield, whereas in Halo 2 they basically merged them into one. And even if you only count Halo 2's implementation as the first 'real' use of recharging health, Halo 2 pre-dated Call of Duty 2 — the first CoD game to have recharging health — by almost a year.

Edit: Doh, beaten by the superb Erratic. That's what I get for opening threads then using the toilet before reading them!

Definitely a home cinema enthusiast thing, I think. The backlight idea is cool though, as I always see it recommended you have subtle lighting behind your screen to make LCDs look their best (no true blacks on LCDs yet, although plasmas are closer).
I still regularly encounter TV shows that are in 4:3, never mind 21:9. And seeing as modern games are designed for 16:9 nowadays, playing them on those TVs will give you something even worse than horizontal black bars: vertical black bars.

But Christian Bale is in it.

Pretty sure that same overgrowth type stuff is going to be in the film based on the publicity material. And it makes sense for overgrowth to be there anyway.

Yeah, the new Civic shits all over the old one. Dux's is basically the kind of thing half the boy racers in my town drive, pimping them out with superfluous lights and novelty horns.

Wow, that impressed the absolute shit out of me. I can't even work out how they do that.
I did a bit of Googling and it's a special movie Philips commissioned for marketing their new 21:9 televisions, which I guess you'd call wide widescreen.
Their site for it is here:http://www.cinema.philips.com/?ls=gb_en
I bet it looks absolutely amazing on those TVs, or any HD television for that matter.

I find the other car more attractive.
You see, the beauty of subjective opinion!

Jesus christ. H2o was awesome, I spoke to him a lot. It's completely shocking he's died out of the blue like this — I have nothing more to add other than my deepest sympathy for his friends and family.
