Look for substitutes like walking on stones or scrunching up a can. Alternatively just record them yourself. ![]()

Interestingly they've never done significant revisions of their home consoles. I bet that changes this generation, though.

Well it's about time a proper successor to the DS was announced, but I agree using the DS branding is a pretty stupid idea now that they've basically raped the brand with what, four revisions? People (especially parents) are obviously going to assume this is just another iteration of the original DS.

I'm currently paying for my internet access by the minute via a city Wi-Fi hotspot (in my home, phone line isn't connected yet), so I'd personally say go fuck yourself to any game that needs a constant connection.

-
Maybe me being without internet for a few weeks is good. Be nice to start playing properly with these things fixed.

-
I've not been able to play this pretty much since a few days after the release because I've got no connection in my new flat yet. I was wondering what the consensus is on the superior game mode: Rush or Conquest?
I really enjoyed my day or so of Conquest, but it looks like some of the final Rush maps are pretty nicely sized. I really like the way you can be tactical in Conquest though, holding one area down while enemies are distracted elsewhere and shit.

It does look weirdly smooth, but in motion it looks fantastic thanks to the well-used dynamic lighting.

It's not Box Office is it? I thought it was just the regular Sky Movies it was airing on, which means you can get it via Virgin too.
Might be wrong, though. I don't have Sky or Virgin.

Oh man, second special edition has been announced for release in summer. Looks like the production values have been stepped up a bit:

Looks great IMO, more like the warm art the original MI2 had.
Much smoother animations and nicer special effects too.High-resolution screenshots here:

Colour me excited as I haven't played MI2 for many years.

I have no connection in my new flat yet so when I start playing again everyone's going to be going around in the equivalent of T-1000 gear. -
Haha, yes. My team mates didn't see the funny side of it when I did it to our engineers, though.

Haha no I understand the principle, but when I say I bump the DPI up in reality I'm only pushing it up to the kind of sensitivity most people use. I use an extraordinarily low sensitivity for FPS games (people always comment on it) so the tank is insanely slow for me.
The tank has a hard cap on the speed it can turn anyway even if you do bump the DPI up, but it seems below that point it moves at a fraction of your regular sensitivity. The anti-hacking stuff should account for this really and take actual sensitivities into account.

-
Something I noticed: I experimented with using the DPI switcher on my mouse and not long afterwards I got a 'HACKS DETECTED, PLEASE TURN OFF THE GAME' message flashing in the middle of my screen.
Anyone else encountered this? I will admit I use it so my tank turret turns a bit faster, but I play with a really low sensitivity so I kind of need to or I'm utterly neutered in a tank.

Quote from Taylor
I always assumed it was called the orange box because that was their apparent level design process with orange boxes. Blue box sounds like severe vaginitis.
I've got no idea what the actual origin of the name is, but I suspect it isn't related to their level design habits due to there also being a (cancelled) 'Black Box' which was meant to come out at the same time.

I played Conquest for like five hours today. I have to say, I didn't really encounter a single technical issue and absolutely fell in love with it once I got through that inevitable first shitty hour or so that comes with any Battlefield game's learning curve.
The only criticism I have is that infantry are definitely a bit handicapped until you get some upgrades, at which point you start dealing damage more effectively generally have more fun. I guess this was the same in 2142, though.
The destruction really adds a lot to the game. Firefights are so exciting when you've got foliage, building, and ground being blown to smithereens. I had a particularly fun moment earlier when I carved a little opening into a building for my tank, reversed it in so only the turret was protruding, then assholed enemies as they came to take a point I had line of sight to.
Was like that tiger tank in Band of Brothers.Great fun, totally Battlefield. Any formula changes that were made are positive IMO, including the big step of removing the commander, allowing infinite sprint, and — gasp — removing prone. Very much going to keep me happy until a possible BF3.

-
Didn't Activision just get out of a huge lawsuit like this with EA over Brutal Legend?
That company...
-
I'll be impressed if these massive scenes of destruction are happening in real time.

Do these things really need to be yearly?
