One of few racing games I want. Enjoyed the other DiRTs too.

I actually like the way RAGE is approaching colour, HP. Areas of the game which are more vibrant and active are far more colourful, more so than many games in fact — I get a distinct Beyond Good and Evil vibe from one of the mutant towns, for example. However areas that're desolate and essentially dead like the city above are pulled right back in colour.
While this may not look so cool in screenshots, I bet it really adds to the atmosphere of the game when you're actually exploring these places. Films have used similar colour grading tricks to enhance mood for decades and it's almost always a good thing IMO.
It's when games use a single colour grade for the entire game that it gets a bit lame, which has happened quite a bit this generation.

The theme is that an asteroid wiped humans out a la the dinosaurs, so there's no particular reason for the cities to be damaged beyond natural decay (which is present in videos I've seen). Interestingly the asteroid Apophis the game features IS predicted to have a high chance of hitting the earth and resulting in serious trouble when the game says it will (2029-2039) which is kind of cool — strange coincidence as we were randomly discussing this asteroid at work the other week. The game spices things up by having it hit the moon first leading to mass fucking up of the world.

This is pretty epic to say it's done in LittleBigPlanet 2:

Thanks.
That's a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros (eagle eyes there CJ), definitely the best headphones I've ever had — much better than the Sennheiser HD 595s I have at home. The build quality is superb and very durable, although the use of metal does make them considerably heavier than most other headphones. I like the way it makes them cuddle my head more tightly, though. :derp: -

The main concern is ensuring your potential employers recognise the value of what you've created. While it's possible to make fantastic original assets in LBP2 and presumably SC2, and come up with insanely high-quality gameplay, if the guys you're pitching to don't appreciate what you've done it'll count for nothing.
Producing levels for 'safe' platforms like Unreal Engine and whatnot is probably best because most developers know what goes into producing such levels, and can reasonably accurately gauge how much effort and skill you put into it. Unless a developer happens to have spent a lot of time with the game your prowess in LittleBigPlanet will most likely be met with glazed-over eyes.
Even something like a CryEngine work could be risky if not balanced with some stuff on other engines (unless you want a job with Crytek) because a lot of developers probably aren't intimately familiar with what is and isn't provided out of the box, and what exactly you've done yourself.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/16/det…orth-america/im a bit miffed about this; how come they only offer games that are either unheard of or have been out for 2 or more years?
i was expecting something better, or at least a larger catalogue
In a word: cheaper.

There're never any guarantees, but you have to consider the facts:
[*:cy1jwrcs]Rockstar is publishing this game, not developing it
[*:cy1jwrcs]It's an in-house engine, not the engine used by Rockstar's games
[*:cy1jwrcs]The developers Team Bondi have never released a PC game and openly claim to be console-only developers
So while it's possible, it's pretty unlikely.

Wow, big difference for the PS3 version there. According to comments and other reports the 360 has frame rate issues with the game too, despite its visual compromises. Guess that settles which copy I'm getting, then.
Disappointing, though. Developers have largely done good work minimising the cross-platform difference, which is the way it should be.

Come on D3, it's only meant to be light entertainment. I'm no champion of the Call of Duty series — although I thoroughly enjoyed the two Modern Warfare games — but its inaccuracies are no worse than you see in countless other films and games depicting real-life factions. I'm sure if you were to look a little closer at any game that features Germans, Middle Easterns, Chinese, or whatever you'd find no end of screw-ups and oversights. Even US forces are gotten wrong dramatically in many games and films.
It's not something many people really care about, certainly not when it takes place in a fictional alternate reality. This kind of stuff always happens in books, games, films, etc because it's entertaining. Nobody wants a straight simulator where every political war decision is meticulously made according to reality's rules because our reality is kind of boring. Russian invading the US is more cool and exciting!
