I think most people got bored and have stopped using it now they've gotten over the initial wow factor — my stream has become a trickle and I ended up removing it from my bookmarks yesterday. Quite telling that even those who championed it a few weeks ago are now barely posting anything.

[Blocked Image: http://i54.tinypic.com/whid0x.jpg]a level layout? :S

But it will probably need to be to big to fit on a logo size?

That is absolutely excellent and although I don't think it'd work as a logo (too fine in detail, won't stand up to downscaling) I'd love to use this as one of the t-shirt designs if you're willing to submit me a high-res version (see original post for dimensions). :derp:

Uhh hello.Even though it seems that you guys have already decided on the direction you wanna take, I'll still post mah idea here since it's been troubling my mind for a week or two It's not the most polished logo I've made but I kinda like it.

So, a bit more abstract and simple design, ditching most parts and feel of the old logo - still leaving some influences on gradients and such.

To break it down a bit, it's a darn diamond-ish shape with a M in its core. Tadah!

Also, some hints to 3d stuff in the lines (creating verts 'n such) and the color scheme. Multiple color choices.

Ummm...and a badge too, because every aspiring game designer needs one (to wear while sitting long nights in front of a pc).

    Comments are appreciated.

I actually like these. They're vastly different from existing entries and arguably more obscure in meaning, but the meaning is there and I do find them aesthetically pleasing — when I look at them I do think of 3D geometry and stuff. I do however think you've been too subtle with the 'M', and that the line weight on that should be considerably higher so it literally jumps out. At the moment it's quite possible to not even notice there's an 'M' there unless you're seeking it out.

Also, I don't think we should have a deadline... just keep it coming!

I'm inclined to agree with this. I didn't think we'd end up with such a flurry of awesome ideas and assumed two or three weeks would be more than sufficient, but I clearly underestimated the power of the Core. So if we're still getting ideas on the deadline I'll just let the deadline slide and wait until we've more or less died down.

deffinitly cool, but without some help of a moderator this thread will be an awesome thread of far fetched ideas that will not work. i say we have a vote and whatever logo will be chosen, should be optimized. just my 2 cents.

I probably wasn't clear enough regarding this but to clarify: there will be a final vote based upon whatever those who've designed logos say they want to enter (hopefully you're smart enough to not all enter every last iteration of each concept and just enter the final mock-up or two so I don't have to start discreetly deciding which ones to not include), and they don't have to be absolutely perfect because I'm happy to touch things up should they not fit print/pro requirements. I'd like to receive them in the designated dimensions after one is chosen as a winner but I can deal with this not being the case.

Lovely. The slightly rounded edges (but not corners) are a great addition IMO.

I do think the core gradient would look better if the gradient came from the top rather than being in the middle. Here's a very rough example of what I mean:

To my eyes that looks more natural and pleasing. Just my feeling, anyway!

the design isnt that great tbh, dunno why we have gone this route..

Nothing wrong with multiple entries Rick, though I must remind those who did the previous awesome stuff before Wilco to ensure a final version is produced for entry (as I think you've just been kind of editing each other's low-res mock-ups).

I think the last one you did was superb Jenn, could you do a version with the inner lines so people can see how it looks? Then you could choose which to enter based on feedback (or just enter both I guess).

[Blocked Image: http://forums.mapcore.net/images/mapcore_logo.png]if we vote for a new logo, can we have the current one as an option please?

    No, sorry.

If someone wants to remake the current one and enter it that's fine, but as the existing one's source files have been lost and it was never produced in such a way that's suitable for easy recolouring/removal of effects for use in print, etc it's not an option.

Personally I think these new entries make the old one look rather archaic but hey this a community vote for a reason.

Bottom right is splendid. Has to be blue IMO and that tone is perfect. The font also looks good not being so chunky.

I probably wouldn't go with the examples in question as they're the most obvious/clichéd examples I can think of, but I just mean something that's got more defined corners and is more Bauhaus in style rather than having rounded edges — the current logo is a fairly obvious example of this, but also things like Myriad Pro, Tahoma, etc. Just something less bubbly. :derp:

With the alphas being in high demand I think it would be very appropriate to pass on the account.

Yeah I do like the top left one, makes a good contender to go up against the previous mighty effort.

I'm not sure whether or not I'm completely digging the blue, looks a bit too bright and saturated. A more geometric typeface would also be more appropriate too IMO.

Season 5 is rather OK, but the earlier series are for sure the strongest — although I am fond of season 7 as it fucked with a lot of the things that'd become kind of predictable and clichéd over the past several seasons (no 25th amendment, no LA, no CTU) and the action was excellent throughout. Season 8 was unfortunately a poor send-off for the series and didn't live up to the superb comeback season 7 was.

Downloading. Hope there is some single player content, because I refuse to touch the multiplayer.

Unless you mean you're just saving the multiplayer for the superb final experience it will offer after alpha/beta, in which case I can respect that.

I've actually gone off the shaded inner faces idea now because it looks a bit too chunky and 3D for me, whereas the logo otherwise looks very crisp. Sometimes trying to be too detailed or realistic ruins a logo and in this case that's precisely what adding shading does IMO.

I think the best bet would be for Jenn to mock up a version with lines like the one Mazy did so we can see how it looks at an angle, except with slightly thicker lines as Mazy's wouldn't do so well at smaller sizes (perhaps half the thickness of the outer white lines).

That'd get it to pretty much perfection to my eyes.

Not a fan of the orange, I have to say I love the version using the existing colours because it gives it a tangible link to the past while still being fresh, more meaningful, and more refined. I totally love it.

Perhaps the shaded faces idea could be applied to it though as that does work well — but make the shaded faces very, very light tones of grey.

i like the new design but it's too edgy (the cube part). The old logo had the nice turbosmoothed edges

Sharp edges look better and make more sense as they more closely resembles the basic 3D primitive the logo's meant to depict IMO.

Also the edges aren't meant to be as rounded as they are in the current logo — that was caused by a fuck-up on my part and I lost the original required to fix it properly.

That works better for me, the lines are unnecessary now. I also agree the Arhurt got the palette pretty much spot on and would like to see that replicated.
