Oh fuck me, that's amazing. I guess we now have our first real proof of concept for how well the engine can handle urban environments when done properly.

Just to clarify, the end of the video confirms that it is real time, but the specifications of the machine aren't given.

Knowing the engine, I can say something like this scene can easly run at ~50FPS on a 8800GTX at fairly high resolutions.

That's it... UE3 and CryE2 are deffinitely my next engines of choice when I get round to it. I'll probably still mess with Source, but those other two have a lot of stuff I've always wanted to work with.

i'm sorry but this fails to impress me in terms of realism. you can so easily distinguish this from the original piece of work (sony bravia commercial). it looks computer animated.

I don't think that's really bad going since you can still tell a computer-generated film in most cases when you see one. For a game engine this is superb, and that's the point. Nobody's saying they've crossed the border of rendering reality.

Btw, it's not everything real-time, the physics are pre-calculated!

It doesn't matter this is really beautifull [HP]... I'm gona buy Crysis because of your Volcano map and all your advert on the Cryengine 2 !

Well, all that means is those millions of flying teapots are animated traditionally. It doesn't make it any less impressive IMO as the scene looks great even without all the teapots.

Lol, same for me, when I see all these beautifull maps and trailers and what else that the Cryengine is capable of.

Now I just have to wait for my new PC...

Having a look to this link and I really agree with Quakis and [HP]. Cryengine2 is really the best real-time engine. Before to rush to my store and buy this BB, here the thread dedicated to the release of the Crysis Sdk.

That stupid chicken spoils the scene imho and some of the textures could have done with some work but other than that, there is no better engine capable of such graphics, only 4 years from now and we'll be closer to realism than ever.. roll on Cryengine 3

There was a dog in the original advert where the chicken was put in Crytek's version. I wouldn't say it spoils anything at all.

These bouncing teapots offer no gameplay whatsoever!

They've got one up with a comparison now. Pretty impressive stuff, although the bouncy balls are definitely more vivid in the TV ad.

the balls look less real in the actual ad than the teapots in the crysis vid, though the teapots did bounce odd sometimes and disappeared/appeared in the scene.

    looks great either way...

Yeah, it's not perfect. I mean, if you compare it against exactly the same thing in real life it's obviously going to look inferior. It's still a engine that has to run on (the high end of) today's hardware. Anyone who says this isn't a good achievement wants slapping around, though.

I did notice the disappearing teapots sometimes while watching it. A bit silly.

lol you did catch that i said crysis' teapots looked more real than the bouncy balls in the ad, right?

Ohhh it's that advert! I forgot about that.. heh. You know at times I was having trouble telling which was which in the comparison video I don't know why I don't like the chicken... just looks a bit fake to me...
