Stuck in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (spoilers)

Ok, I'm hopelessly stuck in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at the moment, quite early on in the game. I've been to the bus depot and killed the bandits and then got the flashdisk from Nimble's corpse, at which point I'm supposed to go back to the trader to collect my reward. Problem is, when I got back to the bunker, the door is sealed and there's no way of opening it (a bug..? I updated to version 1.500 straight away to avoid this sort of thing happening). Looking at walkthroughs on gamefaqs, they all seem to direct you to rescuing Nimble and taking his PDA.. but in my game he's dead.. so I don't know what to do?

The map is huge, I thought it was big enough when I zoomed out.. but then I realised there were direction buttons and saw there was miles more land to explore too.

He's supposed to be alive when he gives you the flash drive so either reload a save game or restart.

Unfortunatly, on such complex games such as stalker, shit likes this hapen... sometimes It's better to continue from the last AUTO save, not quick-save.

I never really finished this game, tbh. I found it pretty boring! And I did played it for 6/7 hours, in hope it gets more interesting, but nope... Besides, I don't like the fact the dialogs don't have actual voices, only pure text, it gets even more boring that way!

I had to restart the game due to a bug like this... then later in the game one mission/story branch totally got messed up, then I got bored and quit playing it. Still a good game, though... just too many bugs.

You can have access to the trader anytime, so yes, it must be a bug :x

Yeah it's a bug, which is overcome by sprinting up to the door so it flings open

Reloaded from earlier, Nimble's survived this time and I got the protective suit so it's ok now.

I hear you're supposed to pay off the military blockade but everytime I approach them, they just shoot me so I duck and dive through the electricity tunnel instead. Can't find the optinal stash on the roof of the mill, I must be blind or something... damn this game is confusing at times!

You should have climbed up the right side of the hill to get through onto the tracks and onto the other side, probably would have been less hassle. Then again I never bothered entering that tunnel, looked too dangerous for my tastes.

After completing this, I was hoping to give it a replay after a small upgrade (GFX/PSU) on a harder difficult, but all it does is crash now.

Almost every single time I have played STALKER, those damn Army guys have shot me... Except for the last time I played. I went up to them with my gun lowered, and I could pay them to let me pass

Why pay them? I just shoot the shit out of them with some grenades, my pistol and sawn of shotgun.

You probably just suck. And you are suppose to get scoped weapons, then it's a lot better...

Ive finished stalker so many times, and I still play it, I just love it.

I loved Stalker through to the end, the enviroments, the immersion and especially the action. I loved getting into firefights and they're weren't particulary too difficult to handle until a little later. Enemies only took a few, if not, one good shot to the head to take them down. I'm looking forward to Clear Sky but I don't think I'll be able to play it with these recent problems - probably need more RAM though.

Don't get the comment about enemies taking lots of bullets. I was dropping things in a couple of shots. Then I got the sickening sniper rifle and did everything in one shot

Yeah I ended up doing that, mmm free aks I have to agree about enemies taking a lot of shots, the hitboxes are a bit iffy and the way enemies die is rather amusing.
