Devil May Cry 3 - Attempting to get into it again and I'm liking it a lot, and I know it's probably a staple of the series, but no checkpoints is really :ssj:

Have you got the second edition? If you play it on gold it just checkpoints whenever it can instead of requiring orbs, makes things a lot less frustrating.

Incidentally I played the Devil May Cry 4 demo today; it's on Xbox Live everywhere and the Japanese Playstation Store (this version is in complete English with Western Controls). Sony seems determined to make the European Playstation Store as crap as possible so it’s not going to be up there for another week, but you can make a fake account to download the Japanese one (but if anything bad happens because of this, I didn't make you do it!)

Not really one for this thread though, totally awesome from start to finish. It’s probably the most concentrated form of sheer awesome known to man. Digging Nero’s Motorbike Sword and Magic Hand setup. That’s right, you heard.

I got the regular version that's been lingering around since I picked up my PS2. It was the DMC4 demo that sparked me to start playing it again cause I really liked that and thought I'd give DMC3 another try. I was hoping to beat it before 4 comes out but I don't think it's gonna happen.

The demo looked ridiculous too, at 60fps. Most impressive, Capcom.

yeah i picked up dmc3 second edition or whatever, not had any squibbles with it. although i do admit that the beowulf boss was tedious. and that they could have made more checkpoints in the stage where you go around killing all the bosses again. whoops, spoiler!

anyway yeah there have been references to angry videogame nerd in the thread, but since he only reviews old games, i think it's crucial that we have a thread for newer games that seem to follow suit.

battlefield 2 - the most annoying game up to date

base rap, flag rape, destroying own commander assets, grenade spamming, steppin' infront of cars, boats getting you punish abused.

people shooting at the plane you wanted. the act of sitting and waiting for a vehicle to spawn. racism - in any form, even for joking. also any kind of hate talk or discriminatory language and excessive bad language. this includes stupid player names. annoying abuse of radio calls, in-game chat or VoIP.

Ninja Gaiden - Having no PC for several months drove me to desperate measures. Overall, it was worth it.

God of War - If you put that simon says button-press shit in your game, I will cut you.

I want to say there were a few other games recently that nearly drove me mad, but that was probably just God of War.

I have a save at the final tennis match, but I seem to have no drive to finish it.

in heavenly? i've got a save at the end boss and it's just too impossible/frustrating to complete. it's a shame because since it's a story driven game i'd like to see the ending.

Yeah, I only had one go at it and turned it off never to return. I don't know what it is about the game, it checks all the boxes but somehow the end result is just not what it should be.

i think it's the inability to jump and not having any platform movement whatsoever. obviously they tried to mimic god of war but it seems they forgot everything but the combat.
