Since I got my new PC I haven't gone back and given Oblivion another chance. I only got to around lvl 15 my first time through before giving up. Got any mods to recommend before I attempt to like the game again? I keep hearing of these great mods but never really know where to start...

I suggest, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.
Otherwise, take a look at this list; UESPWiki: Oblvion Must Have Mods

Playing/loving MotorStorm and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue at the moment. Been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2 as always too though, so am having to work through my PS3 games in a bit more order now.

I also made a more detailed/updated version of my last post in this thread on my superb blog for anyone who's intimately interested:

I'm quite the puritan when it comes to stuff like that
I keep to official patches and DLC. But I heard the UI mods and some balancing things are worth checking out. Haven't got any specifics though. -

Thanks. Looking over the list it's pretty insane how much patch work the community has done for improving the base game .

Point taken
It has more than a few nuisances and bugs. I guess I've just learned to cope with them though. *sighs at broken games* -
There's been a lot of Portal and Peggle lately. I have to send my Xbox off to repairs so that I'm ready for GTA4 when it comes out

I'm kinda praying for a RRoD before my warranty expires... I still have my first batch xbox

Haven't had any issues with it though.. But would be nice to get a new one with HDMI.. ;D

My 360 is currently en route back from Microsoft, according to the support page. Hopefully that means it'll be arriving tomorrow! Currently playing through Lost Odyssey during my lunch breaks on the office 360 - the game REEEEEALLY isn't designed for playing in short bursts tho

No More Heroes.
I can't stress how awesome this game is, providing you enjoy Suda51’s trademark weirdness. The different gameplay parts aren’t as polished as they could be, but everything considered it’s very good. The EU version has all the blood taken out, grr censorship and all that, but ultimately I don’t think it detracts too much – just the people with mops cleaning up after you look a bit strange. Shame it's not doing so well sales wise, the cynic within me wants to rant about games not by Nintendo on a Nintendo console being neglected, but I won't let it!

I played No More Heroes a couple weeks ago. I get what they were going for but I feel like even for a Wii it could have been more polished.
Ahem...my 360 has officially arrived at the Xbox repair center so I have faith that I'll have a working one by the time gta iv ships. at least i can play GHIII on the Wii while i wait.

Well I've tried to get back in Psychonauts tonight, and nope it looks like I'm giving up around the end. The difficulty curve kicks right in around there, and I can't be arsed to find out what sort of strange level design theory makes me have to go up on a roof when the camera for one thing, and the seemingly invisible ways to reach said rooftop clearly won't let me.
We've had these discussions about BGE before and why it didn't sell, and I can't help but think of Psychonauts as a copy cat example. It's a brilliant concept with tons of absolutely superb ideas every where you go, kick ass dialogs, humor and story, but for all these great gems, it can't be marketed properly. What do you think a correct sales pitch at GameStop would be for Psychonauts? Same as for BGE, you could take 10 minutes of your time babbling words to try and describe it and wouldn't manage to sell it.
Anyway, Yahtzee sums it up nicely and he has a way with words I can't possibly dream of ever having so have a look for yourselves
Meanwhile I'm back on Rock Band, this time learning the drums. Playing medium so far, can't say it gets tough until Green Grass and High Tides. -
Condemned 2 on my new 46" Bravia

Loved the first Condemned, and I really wanted to love this one as well, but I've been encountering some epic bugs, like suddenly being able to fly around after loading a save and then being able to avoid triggering important story moments, and to make that even worse I managed to fly over in a trigger box that ended the level and overwrote my save point, so I had to replay the entire level to figure out what really happend. Kinda hard to easily like a game when its this buggy D:
The TV is great tho

How are the black levels on the VIERAs of today? Do they hold up even in a dark room?
I'm going to look into getting a similarly sized TV this year, but the ongoing black levels that LCDs tend to have worries me. I don't want to have to use a dynamic backlight to get decent blacks, but I can't afford the epic prices of the KURA (meant to have the best black levels of any television, period). The BRAVIA is meant to have good black levels but I've no idea about VIERA.

check the contrast factor. i recall kuro having something like 1:10000 which is like a regular plasma screen, while cheap lcd's have 1:1000. my own lg 32" has 1:5000, no backlighting, and it really displays colors in both movies and games well. i cant speak for tv since i, well, dont watch tv.
