Surprised no one put this up yet:

Someone said to me the project is about 70% done... any comfirmation on that? Jean? Campaignjunkie?

I like!~
Lambda core looks cool!
loooks sickk, when is this out?
Lots of cool levels and models, but any code, gameplay, or scripting?
sry but your doubts made me laugh. i think most of the core gameplay was initialized in something like Alpha 1 (ofc nothing finished or optimized)... guys - black mesa is coming but it takes it time...
Looks amazing indeed, lambda core rocks ![]()
Just wondering, how you did guys manage to make transparent textures project shadows?
They used brushes to create that effect. Magic invisible ones that create the appearance that the texture is casting shadows, very time consuming in some cases. I think Raminator(?) described how he created that effect on Moddb somewhere, sorry I can' provide a link.
I was far from impressed when I first saw this media release. I just looked through it again and I am still not - even though I used to love their work. Is it just me or is there very little actual new stuff in this release? I feel like I have seen it all before. It might also be that the Source engine is just beginning to show it's age.
Some more map captures shouldn't impress anybody, especially when they don't reach the quality of previous media. I honestly think all PR driven mods should burn in hell
, other than that good luck to BM.

you actually do this without creating any invisble textures..
Burn in hell? Jeeze, chill out. It's not like they've even made a big deal about the media release -- they just added a bunch of new shots to the gallery and then posted about it on their blog.
What do you expect them to do, just not say anything? There's nothing wrong with a bit of 'PR'; without it, the mod ends up with nobody hearing about it. After spending years working on this, can you imagine anything that'd crush them more? Why not ask the Fortress Forever guys? Is it wrong for them to want to show bits of their three-year-long project?
I'm not sure I'd agree that the new media is worse than the old media, though. The majority of screenshots there are old; are you sure you aren't just looking at old media?
BTW, bear in mind that multiple mappers who produced the Black Mesa levels are seasoned MapCore members, so please engage your brain before being unreasonably critical. This is covered in the MapCore rules.
First of all, you are clearly overreacting, I have the right to say I'm not impressed, just a few cherry picked shots. No gameplay, no any sign of a game being developed in a few years of media. That's what means PR mod. Burn in hell + smilie = no serious statement. Any problem?

Don't the majority of mods out there just show renders and screenshots though? No More Room in Hell has not posted any gameplay trailers or anything, and they're certainly not a PR mod.
I didn't overreact. I just reacted. ![]()
Your statement seemed a bit unreasonable because we already know exactly what Black Mesa is: it's a remake of Half-Life 1. I'm not sure what exactly you expect them to release other than the occasional screenshot of how they've recreated certain areas.
They can't exactly release it unfinished like a multiplayer mod, so all they can go is keep trucking on with the monumental task of reproducing the whole game. Bear in mind that Half-Life 1 is a pretty fast-paced, linear game, so all these beautiful environments they've spent hours on will only be seen for less than a minute by each player, which is much different to a multiplayer map where you spend ages obsessing over each detail. With that in mind, they've done a great job.
If you're going to post stuff consisting of "This shouldn't impress anybody, it's worse than the older media, mods like this should burn in hell" (that's pretty much all your post said) then perhaps you just shouldn't bother. Whether joking or not, it helps nobody and is liable to do nothing but hurt the feelings of those MapCore members who've spent months upon months working on it.
I think it's still holding up in the visual department. All the areas look appropriately detailed and lit. Not too much but not too little. Looks great.
Now show some AI's running around in these places :megaman:

nah he is not overreacting, reverse it is you overreacting.
wtf, why post gameplay, do you want them to spoil the game for you now?
:ssj:
did valve posted gameplay footage? videos?
huhuuhh, no what? e3 only, and all levels were special made, never included in the game

I understand that the "burn in hell" comment could be misunderstood, but again, there is any law that prevent me to say the media wasn't impressive? Are you one of those persons that cannot take criticism? I'm not bashing the work of anybody, just PR managed mods are boring, other people before me said the same more or less, we want to see some action and BM members should be aware of it. That's all.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.. If you have no will to change it, you have no right to criticize it
Come one man, you're not trying to make something better, then as far as I can tell, you are just in the way.

I actually have some experience and I know what I'm talking about, unlike you. Go away troll.
