If only we could release some of the video shenanigans people have cooked up for the last few Crytek Christmas parties!

They originally used the Quake 2 Engine, then moved to Unreal Engine and have stuck to it, making their own major changes to it. That's once they've swapped engines.

Yeah, it's been so long I'm way past actively waiting for it, kind of like Spore. I guess they have a problem of penetrating this new world of people who have no idea what Duke Nukem is. They need to make something old fans who remember it as a nostalgic childhood memory like me happy, as well as intrigue new people. I hope it's nice and colourful and not dark and shit like every other Doom 3 engine game, though.

In all honesty I don't think they can do it. They've left it that bit too long and pretty nobody is excited about it anymore, nor do all these new Xbox kids have any idea what it is.

I'd like to see some sources on either of those :x

I know Thrik is a trusted source.. But this time, it seems people are disagreeing?

Quakis is probably right. He is obsessed with 3D Realms a lot more than me.

I know there were a lot of rumours about it being on the Doom 3 engine ages ago, and that screenshot does look very reminiscent of the engine. Heavily modified Unreal 2.5 technology (presumably) is plausible, though.

But not the same version as Alan Awake!

My guess is UE3, since they used UE2 for a while, and UE3 isn't old

I don't think you people understand the genius of George Broussard. Over a decade of development into the game has been painstakingly crafted in order to lower expectations to unheard of levels. Admit it, we all thought he'd try to put out the trailer today ad end up deleting 3DR's website instead. That's how low the bar has been set. Thus, by putting out a teaser trailer that actually runs on computers, he has vastly exceeded the level of expectations. Genius!

Oh, and the "game" looks like utter shit, but that's besides the point. Another 3 or 4 years of polish, and it will be ready. Then we'll all be able to sit in our living rooms and engage in mildly homoerotic virtual muscle building workouts.
