Crysis Single Player Demo Secrets (Spoilers)!

With Sandbox 2 (the level editor from Crysis) I spawned some 'secret' entities at a beach in the single player demo and checked them out ingame. Be sure to check the last part, you can fly with a heli! Also featering: a nuclear grenade launcher, a mini gun, a tornado, C4 explosives, a scope, a tank etc...

DX10 being better than DX9 is bollocks. If you're on Vista, open Games through the startmenu (Standard menu, not Classic), and rightclick on the Crysis SP Demo and you can select "PlayDX9" to play it in DX9 mode, with significant perfomance improvement.

And here's how you get DX9 "High" setting to match "Very High" ... TWEAKS! : http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=101089

EDIT: A screenshot with the tweaks in DX9-mode:

Also featering: a nuclear grenade launcher

Is this a joke? Or is it the most popular weapon these days?

    The gameplay seems really fun.

I especially like that you can turn it into Metal Gear Solid FPS by using your stealth camo, sneaking up, throttling people, etc. The action also in general seems enjoyable and shows a lot of promise of some superb firefights and stuff. It looks like a game that'll let you approach many bits how you want to, like Far Cry I guess, rather than railroading you into the way the developers want it to play like a game such as Half-Life 2 does.

The concept of killing people by throwing turtles at them is obviously also a huge win.

I love the gameplay. I have played the demo 2 times already and it was always a pleasure to play. To bad the dirext 10 version goes much slower then direct 9. Why have I bought a graphix card of 500 euro for this

I agree, when I turned it down to be able to run acceptably, it didn't look too interesting. I also found it odd how the sun moves, it stays dark until you pass a trigger point, then the sun shoots up to a certain part of the sky in no time at all and then sits there for the rest of the time.

The suit is interesting though, I just wish the clock stayed on a bit longer, and perhaps instead of dropping to zero energy when you shoot, it could just make it not selectable for a while, or maybe just not as effective. I'd imagine the technology would work whether or not you are firing a gun, they enemies would just be able to see and hear the gun firing.

I can run it at maximum settings but then of course perfomance takes a massive kick to the nuts.

Been able to run it with everything on high in 1680x1050 2xAA. Frames have been at 25-40, althought it didn't feel like runnig slow at any time.

It's so funny that everybody is getting excited about the editor now, since most features have been there since FarCry. Oh well better late than never, knock yourself out guys

I can run it on 'Very High' across the board at a more common resolution such as 1280x1024, but if I try to do it in my native 1920x1920 I get smacked down to about 15 fps which is just that bit too sluggish for me to enjoy.

So I run it with everything on 'Very High' except post processing, shadows, and textures (I think), which I put down to 'High'. That gets me a pretty consistent 25+ fps on 1920x1200, but doesn't seem to make much of a visual difference at all.

This monitor is such a double-edged sword. While I love the extra I get for non-gaming stuff, it consistently bums me in the gob with cutting-edge games.

Bring on the next NVIDIA card. Better not be another year away.

    Spoiler:

I put more about it on my blog.
